Agreed. But based on the Dev presence of this thread compared to the Queen’s Jubilee thread, I doubt any will even read this.

You could also just not do them. Is there any particular reason this is not a valid option for you?

Not do what?

Living story is garbage – that’s why I ignore it. I suggest you do the same.
I large amount of players enjoy the LS actually. And Anet already has teams working on other projects than the LS, and those are probably expansions.

Ugh – Living story has been for the most part either face rolling ai mobs or spam your F key. If I had seen that in the manifesto I probably wouldn’t have bought the game. As for expansions we were told a month or two ago that none were in the works.
I have been trying to put a finger on what is missing in the game and why I find myself playing less and less. I currently have a level 80 in each class, a total of 8 and since my last one max’d out I have had this nagging feeling that the game is going nowhere.
So I started looking for a reason. The LS as the OP mentioned is getting stale. Visit each province to either find something or kill something so in the end you can get a doll for a reward. Your actions do little to effect a change, come back tomorrow and you can visit all those places again.
Just make sure you visit them all in the 2 weeks allotted to each segment of the story because miraculously in a defined time period that fight will be over and whether you yourself won or lost or even participated does not change the greater picture in the least bit. It is all becoming a bit too “contrived” or as they say in the writing business “deux ex machina”. There is no plot line to these living stories other than killing “x” and collecting “y” and poof the problem is fixed and we celebrate again!
So why does this bother me? Well for a game that was supposed to be less about the grind and more about the fight we are left with little to do but grind post 80. Grind for your legendary, grind for your 1 million Yaks in WvW, grind for your 100 kills or “x” amount of tokens/scraps/pieces of paper so you can get another “unique” skin, grind for 50 ectos and the laurels required for one piece of ascended gear.
The dragons have been forgotten. Zhaitan was defeated so what is controlling all those minions in Orr? Where are the other elder dragons? There is no gear progression nor is there any level progression once you hit level 80 so the best one could hope for is to progress the fight against the dragons. Then I realized what I am missing in the game which is the sense of actually accomplishing something now that my toons are all level 80 by getting back to the main story and not some “God in a box” living story plot contrivances put in to keep people interested.
I will not be quitting although I am seriously looking at Skyrim and perhaps going back to LoTRo when the next expansion arrives this fall. At least in LoTRo you follow a storyline and things continually push towards Mordor. Here in GW2 we defeated Zhaitan and now we celebrate and celebrate and celebrate and every celebration is broken up by some bad boys (or girls) we go out and spank them and rinse and repeat.
I do disagree with OP.
- Expansions are sweet, but a properly designed LS is same good. Depends on their quantity and quality of new things.
- Arenanet does listening to us. I can’t count with my hand fingers that how mutch of my suggestions they accepted.
So Devs invented LS, and they’re on the journey to evolve their own invention.

All you guys at Anet are so wrapped up in your own agenda, that you don’t take into consideration what a good portion of the Community is asking for!
I like how you phrased it “good portion,” this avoiding criticism that less than one percent of players give any sort of feedback. A thousand people out of millions can be a “good portion,” but that doesn’t mean they should be listened to.
The devs have already stated that the Living Story will begin to diversify after they have all of these recurring festivals done, and that their goal is to produce the content you’d expect in an “expansion,” through periodic releases. Given that Halloween is coming up soon, the wait shouldn’t be long.
You picked a terrible time to complain, though, honestly. The gauntlet is actually quite different than the releases we’ve had in the past, and a much more enjoyable challenge than the candidate trials were. It’ll be hard to beat Southsun Survival for minigames, in the future, though.
All i’m saying is the major suggestions a lot of people are asking for are being ignored and if this game doesn’t change direction with ESO coming out soon, then its going to lose a lot of its player base.
Try to develop a game, then you’ll see how hard that actually is and how much time things need to be implemented. The Guys from Anet are reading through these forums, they stated that multiple times, even if they don’t answer. You need to give Developers Time, they know about us and they care, they just have a big list of things that have to be done.

Yeah, major suggestions like mounts right? Most of the actually good suggestions have been looked at by Anet/are in the works. The other 90% of suggestions made by “armchair developers” are rightfully ignored.
P.S. As much as I love the Elderscrolls series, ESO will be a terrible, buggy mess guaranteed.
