For WvW reasons, in the future I would like to see the option to lock the Minimap so that North is always at the top of the Minimap.

Right now I can never tell which way North is unless I open up the main map or I’ve taken the time to learn the cardinal directions from a given position. Locking the Minimap would make it a lot easier to relay info to my fellow team mates, and it would also increase overall map awareness, i.e. my position relative to other objectives or points of interest, etc.

I believe this is already an option, it definitely is in PVE. Try hovering over the minimal and checking out the options that appear on the right hand side.

Yes, this already is an option on the minimap. I can confirm it because I always have it on, be it in PvE or WvW.
