The game’s lore is fun to experience, but then sometimes you (Anet) supplement it with stories outside the game.

There is a slight problem with that: folks that just play the game, those that don’t really look on the site or forums, miss out on neat things like this.

We need some form of lore tab which describes what is going on with the Living Story. Maybe even have links to the wiki or these types of short stories in it.

The game already has a “Personal Story” tab which briefly describes the choices you made in that. So we already know such a thing can exist.

I’m not saying it would be a simple thing, but it would be a helpful thing for those who want to know what is currently going on and what happened when they didn’t log in to events like Southsun or Flame and Frost.

Chances are someone else thought of this idea and possibly even posted in this Suggestions forum, but the forum search is a sad broken joke at the moment.

Elona, Land of the Golden Sun….and undead…and poison. The travel brochure lied okay?!

I agree, stories such as this help make much more sense of the character.

But, even if it’s in a blog or in the game, if it’s text then, many won’t read it.

The best would have been to include snippets of this story in the investigation part of our hunt for a way inside the pavilion.

Emissary Vorpp during the Closing Ceremony could have mentioned she was wanted for the murder of the Headmaster Emeritus of the College of Synergetics instead of simply sounding jealous about how she “earned advanced engineering degrees at each of Rata Sum’s colleges in record time”.

We could have been sent to Rata Sum to consult her notes and see her other teachers to find one or more of the parts required for the portal instead of killing 3 champions during an invasion for it. There, we could have seen her personal journal or the Peacemakers reports with parts of this short story.

To make it feel like you have a personal part in the Living Story, Sylvari characters could have had a special dialog option with the Pale Tree. Also, Asura from the college of Synergetics – others would need to join their party to see it – could have been invited to a memorial for the professor at the beginning of Flame and Frost, leading to speculation and involvement by the players.

This is just some ways that lore could be better supported in game while getting the players involved in it. It would have the added bonus of quelling some of the complaints about how it feels like the living-story villains come out of nowhere.
