I would like to see a Lottery system put in place, maybe something simple that spans all servers and has a weekly drawing, simply put a vendor that sales a single account wide / unique ticket that can be entered into a drawing handled by a lottery NPC in LA. Have grandprize be a % of the total entries in gold or equivalent of gold in gems.
Perhaps have a few 2nd and 3rd place prizes also.

I think this method would make it even for all players to participate without letting people with loads of gold to buy an advantage.

alternative might be to have several different lottery options to buy tickets for (gold / specific prizes/ dyes etc)

Other alternative would be to allow Laurels to enter vs gold thus encouraging more daily achievements.

We already got Lotteries in place…..Mystic Toilet for example makes some people incredibly rich while it makes others the opposite. Then the new weapons that champs drop, again some win it, some don’t.
There are a lot of guilds that do hold lotteries, maybe that would be a better place to have them held when Guild Halls come…..oh wait did I say WHEN I meant IF.

You aren’t turning real money into gold, you are turning real money into gems, THEN converting it into gold. This nullifies any legal effect of “gambling” because you are using in game currency to get in game currency. In effect, you didn’t pay to get a lottery ticket, you paid for x amount of gems, which you are given. What you choose to do with those gems is not Anet’s responsibility.

Could you sue Anet? sure. Are you going to win? I can almost guarantee you wont.

OP, this type of lottery would reward a person way too much. Maybe if the person gets 1% of the pool and the rest is deleted this would work (and be an effective gold sink). Or perhaps if a couple thousand people share the pool.

People already complain about “gambling” in GW2, RNG and so on. Having a lottery would have people in the forums running around with their heads exploding.
