Here’s an idea to shake things up a bit. Part of the RNG would be the possibility to have two servers combine for a higher rating and go up against servers with tiers very different from them.

What if for example, SOR would be up against a combination of two tier 8 and one tier two server. I think that would be really interesting to see.

This merge should only affect WvW maps and nothing more.

And it would be devastating and probably not solve anything.

How many people would follow a completely unknown commander into battle?
How many people much would trust a server that they might have fought at some time in the past?
How many people would be happy with hour long queues because the WvW player-base suddenly doubled?

He might be right, merge might help those servers. I know that some server are getting beaten hard because they have 20 players vs 50. Giving them additional 20 would increase their chances for victory.
About commander – you can always learn something from new commander and if he will be a “noob” then no one will simple follow him…
Only empty server where no one want to play don’t have queues …
Maybe you re playing high populated server or wining one but some people don’t want to play on wvw when they are greatly outnumbered, even best tactic will not help you when you can’t leave spawn…
