Lower the price of tier 3 cultural armor
I want to suggest that the prices of tier 3 cultural armor be lowered. If I am not mistaken, an entire set will cost well over 100 gold which, in my opinion, is completely ridiculous.
119g
Maybe there is a point to it being priced so high. But if there is one, I am clearly missing it.
Luxury fashion item. The stats are worthless (nobody in their right mind would wear a yellow set at lvl80) so they’re all about the skins.
Do you even lift, bro?
I don’t have a problem with them. The effort required to get them is roughly comparable to regular prestige armors from Guild Wars 1 – and I DELETED characters in prestige armor on GW1.
That said, I wish they’d improve the skins of a lot of their cultural armors. Speaking from a strictly male-character perspective, T3 Human Culturals, T3 Norn Medium and Heavy, T3 Sylvari Medium (and Heavy Helmet), T3 Charr Heavy, and T3 Asura Light and Heavy are the only Tier 3’s that don’t look awful.

You realize that’s more than half of them, right? :P
T3 Norn Heavy was the biggest letdown ever. 119g down the drain and all I ended up using was the leggings. Urgh.

Didn’t you preview it first?

Which means that about half of the T3 culturals (and most of the T1-T2 culturals) are still an eyesore. And the ones I listed aren’t necessarily the “great” ones. They are the “not bad ones.” If I were just to list the “great” ones, I’d only be left with the Human Culturals, Norn Heavy, Asura Light, and Charr Heavy.

Preview can’t take into account how the armor will look when you factor in camera angle and animations.

Oh I did. And I liked it. But then I saw how much better it looked as concept art and it started to bug the crap out of me to the point where I couldn’t wear it!

No.
It doesnt offer any benefit other than looking fancy – having it cheaper would make it more common, devaluating it (and its already pretty common)
People want to look different from the masses, and have some medium-term achievement to work for, not just some badge on your hero screen but something concrete that other peopel can see . T3 gear does that.
If anything, we need MORE things like that – i’d love t4 gear costing 150g at piece with some minor particle effects maybe. Right now only weapons have that, under the form of legendaries and MF recipes
I disagree that the price needs to be lowered, but agree that the T3 sets could be improved. Human Light T3 isn’t very interesting, but it is a good start. I would buy it if it was worth the price.

If they changed any of the current cultural armor look, ANET would have to offer a way to re-found the gold to everyone who already has a set and does not like the new look.
Usually, I don’t complain.. but if I spent 150 gold on a purely cosmetic armor and then it got changed (in my mind for the worse), I would be a little upset..
I just wish they made then purchasable with karma. I have a million karma and like 5 gold to my name. :/
I troll because I care
my personal opinion, that price should stay as is,
i dont have it yet,
but it makes me motivated to save more and play more and dedicate more time farming gold
but if you will lower it (eg, to 20 gold to the whole set) i would buy it, then i will leave the game, “saying that i have completed my desires already” to the point that there is no need to play anymore… but of course it is an exaggeration, because i will not leave gw2 yet
The price is fine as is. Epic looking armor should have the pricetag to match. Id rather not have everyone running around in such epic looking armor, this is comming from a player who cant afford it yet.
Yup, sure, Far easier way to get gold in the GW2 is to buy it from goldsellers (but not for gems! it have 2-3 times more cost!) and after that spent it to cultural armor or legendary weapon...
Seafarer’s Rest (EU): Liicher (Engi), Lii Cher (Warrior), Swf (Elem),
Licharr (Guard), Lich Eir (Ranger), Alt Fh (Thief). Lii Cherr (Mesm), S Wf (Necr)
They should at least make it like guild armor or HoM armor where its a skin instead of an actual set. After spending 119g i wouldn’t want to use and transmutation stones…
Actually I’m going to suggest a slight alteration to this argument. I also agree that the pricing is wrong, but I feel that the pricing of armors overall is a bit messy. The order armors all come to about 8G and they are along the same vein as cultural. In fact, you could argue they are even rarer given that you close yourself off from 2 of them. Surely these should have cost more? Also, why is the step up between cultural armor costs so skewed? Tier 1 is cheap as anything, Tier 2 seems like a reasonable, or maybe low step up, Tier 3 is way, way too much of a step up from Tier 2
I don’t think the price should go down. Tier 3 is a vanity item which is achievable to get after a period of time. I personally wear tier3 legs and top on my mesmer. I love the set either way, but it’s nice not everyone is running around in it.
@Lord Krilik:
The order armors can be transmuted to different characters, so leveling 3 characters to different orders will give access to all orders. I’m guessing the fact that they’re cheaper is that loads of npc’s wear the armor.

That’s like dumping your GF because she doesn’t look like Angelina Jolie.

And don’t forget you need all 3 tiers for all 5 races to get emperor.

I do agree thakittens insanely expensive, for what is pretty much cosmetic gear.
Its not high teir so you are paying for the appearance only And yet equivalent items in the gem store at 1/10th the price.
T3 cultural is a rip off however you look at it.
There are a few ones that I like but cannot buy because they are too expensive… but as others said, they are vanity items, so it makes sense that they are expensive.
What bothers me is that, for armors that expensive, why are they rare instead of exotic?
