Lower the respawn rate.. please!
Thats what monsters do-thats why they are monsters,they dont care about your “accomplishments”
I agree with Yoob, but it seems like a sporadic thing in my experience.(ie- it doesnt always happen.) My guess is that the respawns are on a fixed timer that is not modified by your killing the mob. So if you are unlucky and kill the mob 5 secs from its fixed respawn timer running out, they show the behavior you are talking about. Other times, I can almost do an event in the time it takes them to respawn.
It seems to me that respawns happen much faster in higher-level areas. Sometimes, the respawns happen so fast you can only maintain a holding position at which point it feels wasteful and useless to kill for several minutes without getting anywhere or accomplishing anything. I would like to see the spawn timer slowed down just a bit.
The re-spawn rate is often ridiculous IMO and I often see insta re-spawns at location of death and that just makes the game look buggy. With summoned common mobs scattered around the world there really is no need to create a Frogger effect out in the field. At the moment many people are overcoming odds by simply following other players to get to what they need. It creates a zerg growing and then zerg poof effect that often leaves players stuck with no support in bad places.
The respawn rates are a bit high. I understand how it can be helpful and everything, but I hate killing a mob, moving on to the next one, and all of a sudden I have another guy on my back.
A bit high? It’s ridiculous. I have seen som many instant spawns where I just killed a monster that its really unacceptable.
I don’t think I have ever been attacked by 10 mobs other than in events.
Some times it only takes 1 more when you are about to finish killing the last one and low on health. Then comes the respawn, kills you and you have to go back to a waypoint and start to kill all of the monsters and their respawns…
Agree…in certain points, the respawn rate is ridiculous. I’d get done killing six centaurs, fight a veteran – only to have the six centaurs respawn and help the veteran kick my kitten!
I’d be hard pressed to find the thread now, but it wasn’t long ago that a dev said they know that some of the respawn rates are too high and need changed.
It’s obnoxious. It’s to the point where you have to clear the same mobs two or three times in a cave. Not to mention it makes solo exploration nigh impossible in many areas, even many low-level areas. Like someone else mentioned, it ruins any sense of progress or accomplishment. I get that ANet doesn’t want to have people camping an area waiting forever for respawns, but I’d gladly wait a couple minutes if I knew that what I’d kill would stay dead and that I’d have enough time to get out of dodge before they magically reappeared, mocking my suspension of disbelief.
I like that bit about mocking your suspension of disbelief. There is this one door you can find with a room full of plants. You have to fight your way down there through a field of instantly respawning difficult mobs, only to open the door and find… that you can look at the plants but never enter. There is an invisible wall preventing you from picking them. And then poof everybody you just killed has respawned and you die. It’s almost as if somebody did it on purpose…

I thought I had seen that thread too….but just can’t find it any longer. I hope they are currently working on a fix for this.
i agree,while killing mobs with the current combat system it would be great to lower the respawns by alot cause kite and circleing the mobs to kill them or even when or if you dodge you may roll into something u just killed but is back..SUCKS!!!
Please hurry up and get this sorted – it is getting really, really frustrating. The respawn rates in some areas are unbelieveably rediculous.
Yeah, I’ve run into this a few times as well. It’s especially bad if you’re not able to kill mobs really quickly so you can eat through the spawns in rapid order. If you have to take a bit of time to work them down (especially 2-3 mobs at once), it can be a nightmare if they respawn behind you while you’re fighting the next one(s).
I’ve run into several areas where I’ll kill a couple mobs, move forward to engage the next few, and before I can finish them off (less than 10-15 seconds or so) the ones behind me are respawning again. And if the mobs have knockback, it’s even worse — they’ll punt you into more mobs, who will punt you into MORE mobs…
