Make Getting a Legendary Feel Legendary
en.guildwars2.com/forum/guilds/recruitment/New-OutRiders-NOR-Recruitment-Post/first#post2721974
I agree with you on precursor, I think they let room for it in the future, I mean, I’d keep all the other material needed, but I’d so something special for precursor, like finishing the story + some more crafting items.
What people don’t understand is that, yes there is faster ways to get legendary, let’s say farming COF path 1, over and over, but that won’t be fun, even getting the badge of honor, Iv’e seen people creating new character over and over to be teleported by mesmer in JP for hours. But if you actualy hunt your items the way it was meant to be, by doing dungeons, daily, fight in WvWvW, explore, then your legendary will feel better, I know that because that’s how I did my mine, it was a long adventure compared to my friend who just farmed CoF to get his, but believe me, getting mine was fun.
But as I said, the precursor is the only things that bugs me, maybe at the end of the storyline we could get a Broken Precursor, that you would need to fix but throwing it in MF with other items, like 250 Ori plate, 250 Globs, and a sigil, or make it even harder I wouldn’t care, I got lucky with mine, but I know alot of people out there arn’t.
Thanks for reading
I posted an entirely different idea for more unique ones this morning. (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Create-your-own-Legendary/first#post1630630) But I get the feeling that people are starting to care less and less about legendaries because it only had one response.
I like the idea of a custom story line oriented to every Legendary Weapon. Still keeping in some of the requirements (probably most of them), but also having you trek across all of Tyria in what would be an extension of your personal story (so you’d obviously have to finish yours first) to acquire certain items/skills to forge parts of the Legendary you want.
Perhaps instead of buying the smithing recipes for all of the different gifts, make that a quest to see some dude out in the middle of nowhere who knows how to make the Gift of Metal, etc. and teaches you.
what I would love to see most in the forging of legendaries is the exclusion of randomness in the process. It just doesn’t feel that fun to make 77 Mystic clovers over what could be hours of work. Obviously you would have to make things a lot harder if the random factors were removed from the equation, but making the forging of a legendary weapon one massive, long quest line, and I think that could be a lot of fun.
A storyline while making a legendary is actually a pretty good idea.
They should have made it so that once have made your precursor you are given the option to start a quest by paying it with the precursor (decides which storyline and legendary). Each time you advance in the story, you’re asked to give something in order to proceed. Once finished, you’re given the ACCOUNT bound legendary :P
Just a silly idea.
Wish they actually updated the remaining legendaries (shield, scepter, focus, harpoon gun) like they did 2 months ago with many other legendaries.
Yes, making a specific, difficult to finish story line is way better than an expansive checklist of stuff to do.
It’s a great idea but it will take a lot of time before making a story line quest for each precursor.
I did a suggestion for a better way to get precursor, it will take time but it won’t be random, if you like it plz tell it on the post so dev can see it:

My problems with the legendaries is…what makes them legendary? Each one should have a LONG HISTORY that we need to uncover and add to our own story to prove worthy of wielding it… not just a long grind.
I understand Runiir. I will show you a post. And here the resume:
The legendaries are supposed to (sic);
“show off your accomplishments and symbolise all of the things that you’ve been doing” (Lead Designer Isiah Cartwright – in this video) and,
“show everyone that you are a true master of Guild Wars 2” (quoted from here).
So for the Dev pov it for showing that you have master GW2. They didn’t make it so they have history behind them. What is’t working it that random don’t show that you have master anything of GW2
My problem with the legendaries is they make no sense, it is meaningless grind.
Frostfang, for instance, should be all about the shiverpeaks…everything needed for it, every special part of it, should be found and done within the shiverpeaks. As it makes perfect sense for an axe made of ice that never melts to be forged there. the culmination of the legendary should be killing jormag’s claw for the last componant after an epic series of story events.
The butane lighter should be done virtually entirely around the great volcano south fo the shiverpeaks.
Flameseeker prophecies should be done in specials tory solo versions of various catacombs throughout the charr lands…
These things are weapons of legendary proportions and they should have been handled far better and more uniquely than they have been.
ya, it would have been a lot better if they done it like this. But they didn’t go for it. Now if they want to implement something like this it will take a lot of work. Voicing, animation and all the programming. I think they can do something a little bit less epic but faster to give to the legenday some proudness for the people who make them. I won’t be proud when I will buy Dusk. I have played the TP. Nothing i’m proud of really… more boring than anything else.
I think the word they used," legendaries" it’s not the word they should have use for it! as I understand, they want to see people who got legendaries as master of GW2… as legend and it look like more, this guys have a lot of money, was lucky, or play the TP well than a legend!
