The issue Anet has with pet users is their tanking viability versus damage done
In the early day Ranger pet was nerfed by 50% of its damage because rangers where dealing heavy hits while tanking it as a full tank geared spec. Minion master necromancer often are looked at with contempt because their minion damage just arent enought to keep on par with Dpsing group. Since giving pets OUR critical damage would be outright ridiculus (or awfully nice from my point of view) I assume having them scale with power would be the best solution to keep them on par with any build the player might use.

Currently pets gains from condition damage only wich is sad because prety much NO pet beside rangers one do condition damage to begin with. Now now i can understand Anet Doesnt want to work with the Pet AI and its all right it doesnt need any tweak from my point of view but pet damage should be related to the user own build rather then to a trait line or actualy it could be both with a trait that increase the pet attack power gain from masters instead of those useless traits wich increase minion damage by a flat 30% you could put that minion gains a 30% bonus of the master attack power.

Making pets gain from the master power would do 3 things.
1. Make minion master geared toward damage actualy able to do so
2. Make Beastmaster ranger more rewarding to gear damage style then tankish style as well as move the ranger as an actual fairly good pet class
3. Make the turret build for enginer actualy viable damage wise

And in overall give some value to class wich uses pet in pve party because right now people are utherly effraid of them o_O (wahahahahah a turret enginer please gtfo of my party your useless o.o)
You already made the tooltip show us what could be now make it appen for real please.

Note: DONT by all mean DONT give this buff to mesmer phantasm unless you plan toning down phantasm damage a bit to compensate for the power gain. Well actualy go ahead and do it ill just run mesmer in pvp and kill everyone with a Phantasm build o_o your phantasm mesmer already is strong enought dont make it better

Btway this could ALSO apply to pets wich comes out from an elite skill or an utility racial skill aka the thief summon and the racial summons. This would be the first step to actualy making race elite interesting.
