I notice the cultural weapons are soulbound. Is there a reason why they shouldn’t be account bound instead? (hopefully a dev can answer this one) I mean, if dungeon tokens and gear are now account bound, why can’t cult. weapons be as well.

Was hoping to buy one for an alt, heh.

“Greetings,

There may be design and balance reasons why the developers have chosen to leave cultural weapons as soul bound. But they are always open to feedback and ideas for things like this as it helps them know how to best improve the game."

They really want cultural gear to stay within the culture. If you look at the last big patch they made it where folks that had bought this gear for a different race had it taken away from them.

Making it account bound would make it difficult if not impossible to prevent say a Norn walking around in leave armor.

Just the image of that is a bit too Adam and Eve for me to even dwell on ::shudders::

It’s a gold sink. They want to keep the economy flowing and having to drop a ton of karma/gold on a cultural weapon for each character keeps it from saving up huge amounts.

That actually has the opposite effect. If you dump all your money into Cult. armor, you cannot contribute that money to the actual game economy. That’s why gold sinks like WP’s and Repairs make no sense. That money isn’t contributing in any way to the economy, and it’s actually HARMING the economy by causing players to put money where it simply doesn’t matter.

This is why economists try to stimulate an economy by providing incentive for people to add money INTO that economy. The famous cash for clunkers and bailout programs were crafted with exactly that intent.

If they want an economy to prosper, they need to stop TAXING, essentially.
