I hardly play the game, but I have some friends who made the mistake of buying ascended rings. Rings, as in plural, and can’t equip them at the same time. They wasted 70 laurels, dozens of ectos, and hundreds of tokens and then realized they can’t be simultaneously equipped. I barely know anything about the game, but that just sounds like a downright waste to me that legitimately kitten es people off. Maybe for other people it’s common knowledge to know what ‘unique’ is but I literally didn’t know until I just looked it up on Wiki.

It’s also possible that I don’t really understand their ranting, but it sure does sound like they were royally ripped off. Plus, why NOT let people use more than one ring at once? They barely boost your stats between exotic and ascended, and it’s just not fair to people who buy more than one piece of jewelry.

You can use the same ascended rings, but you need one with offensive infusion slot and one with defensive infusion slot.

How does this help people who wasted their money already?

Honestly, if it were me and I was spending that money, I’d have had NO idea that I wouldn’t be able to equip both. Calling something unique is ‘meaningless’ to me and I’d have been out several months of work if I had done what my friend did today.

You can use an infused one and an uninfused one, too.

Yes, I’d approve a function which would make the word “unique” to appear in red, if you’re already using one.

Since when did we start believing that people will read any kind of warning?

Clearly, these people aren’t reading the description of the item anyway, since “unique” is a word that only appears in Ascended pieces.

Honestly, I am against changing the way Unique functions. Make it more visible, yes. Make it go away, no. The reasoning is simple: hundreds of players have had to buy a single offensive and a single defensive ring if they wanted identical stats. These people far outnumber the ones that have bought two of the same exact ring only to find out that they can only equip one. So if you’re going to screw someone over, screw the minority.

so we have someone who never knew about such things and ppl who are to rude and ignorant to help the person, my my are we all supportive today.

the game should warn the player, if anything, show in red letters that you’re already wearing one.
heck, have a warning in the vendor about it so you know you can only wear one, it’s not to much to ask.

I agree, the tiny unique in the description is just not enough warning. Besides, they aren’t even unique, everyone and their mother has the same trinkets, so much for being unique..

I was lucky enough to have found out before I made the same mistake by reading the forums, but there should be plenty of warnings in game.

Sorry, but that’s specifically what Unique means in an MMO. It means you can only have one of them. In some MMOs it means you can only have one of them even in your inventory, in this one it just means you can only wear one of them.

and not everyone plays all kind of linear games with such things, i have played plenty of MMO’s and never have a had a unique item.
from SW:ToR to PW to TERA yet no unique item, i dunno what cheap game you played but it’s a bad design in and on it self.
it’s also a horrible idea to think everyone knows, the “unique” status isn’t as common in MMO’s as you think.

Then you weren’t paying attention because there were absolutely Unique items in TOR. (The O is for Old, which is a proper adjective, therefore the O is capitalized.) When I pointed out that there were games with unique items which only allowed you to have a single one in your inventory I was talking about TOR.
