Make my Mesmer stop grunting when casting
I agree. Using the greatsword is just annoying. You have the continuous pewpewpew and them grunting everytime the spell is cast.
I like it because it shows that they are putting real power behind it …heres is a good example why I disagree “Women’s Tennis”.
A tennis racquet most likely weighs less than a scepter would since most scepters have metal and jewels on them. And yet these girls make big heaving grunts when they whack the ball with their racquet.
Kinda like in this video except the Mesmer’s don’t get this excited.

But you will be happy to know that now they are getting on the women for the grunts so maybe your request is not all undeniable.

Totally unrelated, but Hahahahahaha Silverbride you have a great sense of humor!
I can see why a tennis player would grunt because they are putting some force behind their swing. But all I’m doing is waving my scepter gently in the air! The grunts have gotten pretty annoying now.

Well, sure the swing isn’t hard, but who knows, maybe magic is strenuous. :P
Hahaha. And hear I thought it was just my character being a Norn.
Even if magic is strenuous, grunting is a sound that indicates you are under great physical stress. Magic isn’t physical.
I moan when I have a headache – which is the closest thing to mental stress I can think of. Would you rather they record a lot of moans for when people constantly cast magic?
I can understand the request to make it not occur every other skill use – asking them to eliminate it is rather silly imo.
Bvhjdbvkjf.1987, I don’t moan when I have a headache, but if I did it would be from the physical pain of the headache, not mental stress, so I don’t really understand your reasoning here. Regardless, we mostly agree that casting a spell isn’t physical stress, so grunting when I heal myself is what is silly here. These grunts are nothing more than noise pollution that I am really getting tired of hearing when I play.
Also, I didn’t ask them to eliminate it. I asked them to to make it more proportionate to the activity that is being done at the time, as stated in my original post.

Completely off topic reply here so I’m sorry… but I don’t moan when I have a pain in my head either.
I moan when I realize how stupid some of the people I work with are and that I have to re-explain something for the 5th time, that’s mental stress.
When my head hurts – I usually just wince a bit and close my eyes till it goes away.

Well, magic isn’t real. If it were, maybe you wouldn’t think of grunting as a sound that only indicates physical stress.
I’d like to suggest that all sounds that are repeated frequently have a way to be turned off. Particularly annoying is my necro fighting sounds and my sylvari yipping like a chihuahua when she is crippled. I’ve resorted to just turning game sounds off when I play my necro. It is the only way I can tolerate playing her. At least my sylvari isn’t crippled every time she fights.
I like having the game sounds on and hate that this is causing me to turn them off.
