Currently for persistent animations such as /sit or /dance when a person comes in range the emote text is shown for each and every time he or she comes in range. When many people are dancing or sitting this can be a flood of text when you come in range. This is many times worse when you are traveling back and forth such as in Lion’s Arch when you are crafting, forging, and making stops at the Trade Post and repeatedly see the text. I do know that emote text can be completely turned off in chat. It would be nice if instead of having to ignore all emote text for one problem that it just be changed to be less unintentionally annoying.

I propose that it be made that the text for an emote only show once and only when the person who played the emote actually typed the emote in if you are in range.

I agree!

I don’t even want to use emotes now outside of instances. (I feel like I have to go to home instance if I want to /dance)

I’d like silent emotes, just for the scenery or such. In Guild Wars the * (like in /dance *, /cheer * /guitar *) would not broadcast the emote, and in another game I saw an additional command (/dance motion) that didn’t show up the text at all.

There was a person who was constantly dancing and I took them out of my ignore only after they had apparently left the game completely. :P

And the emote range could be shorter as well.

I mentioned that I am aware that you can do this in the original post. Emotes do not bother me at all in themselves. Just trying to make a suggestion to make it behave in a way that one would not have to do that. Instead of turning features off it would be nice to be able to have them implemented in a way that doesn’t inspire more people to turn them off. I just want to see the game get better, even little things like this.

And the emote range could be shorter as well.

I agree with this as well.
