Make the Kodan a Playable Race
Largos and Tengu too. :P

I don’t think the Kodan would make a good race. Tbh their all white and it wouldn’t look right with customized colors. The Largos are under water creatures who try yo avoid contact with outher races. BUT I would really like to see the Tengu as a playable race in the future/
Them too, especially the largos.

Hate to break it to you, but for MOST people, “white” is a great colour to customize around.
Largos are fully capable of living and fighting on land.
And their races’ preferences is nothing a good alternate-perspective story can’t fix.

If and when they add new races to the game, they will definitely need to add a race change kit, as I already have all 8 slots filled with all 8 classes and 4 of them are already 80 and the other 4 are all halfway or more to 80 themselves. Not to mention I already had to purchase the other 3 character slots to get to this point. So unless they added a new class and character slot(free) alongside the new race…..meh.

Well there is no reason why there couldn’t be more temperate Kodan, such as brown or black, because the area that they would be expected to be is right next to two different forest
Tengu first. They’re more unique (Kodan are similar to Norn), have more customization potential, a more fleshed out culture, a longer history with the series, and their own established racial city. It would be a crime to NOT include them.
Kodan would be great as a playable race but personally I would like to be a Quaggan. I mean come on who wouldn’t want to go around bashing in skulls as a Quaggan warrior.
Skritt! With lots of shinies!
I want Kodans and Stone Dwarves… Been begging for them for long time

Chances are they’d add a new free character slot like they did with GW1 anytime a new profesion was added.
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.
They’d be a bit too similar to the norn, wouldn’t they?
The order I would love to see things implemented
1. Skritt – by far, a must have
2. Hylek – we see their civilzation uprising and they are travellers, see the final boss for the drinking minigame.
3. Tengu – Im surprised this wasnt picked over sylvari to begin with, as Sylvari was new compared to Tengu which were GW1 proper.
4. Kodan – Really this reminds me of the norn story in eotn -GW1 with the brother that was perma wolf form.
5. Dwarf – I miss this little guys, and it’s hard for me too stomach av total disappearance, they must be in the mountain preparing for their second coming. Btw, the real king of Drunken Game
6. Largos – Great idea (but, considering they always come as assassins, believe they are to secret to be a playable race, because all we ever see it’s their human)( Great idea would be to expand their lore with, can we say expansion
7. Dredge – Everyone loves a good mole story.
8. Quaggon – although they can be found on land, I don’t think this is a good race to make payable, but again, it could be in a major water expansion.
9. Grawl (Not sure, but since you help them in the personal story, they could be)
10. Centaur (was an npc in gw1) (hero)
Skritt won’t even work as a playable race – their intelligence relies on being surrounded by other Skritt. In fact, the primary way young Skritt die is being separated from their peers and making dumb, suicidal moves as a result of their decreased intellect. This mechanic, unless retconned, ignored, or compensated for by making players control a small group of Skritt rather than a single one, ensures that the Skritt are doomed to remain a minor race.
Or have player skritt be the result of an asuran experiment, that grants them at least a higher baseline of intelligence.
These races (Kodans, Hylek, Quaggan, Skritt ) are more sub-races. They all lack depth to them to make them interesting playable races. Things like needing more diversity in looks of their races, more in depth lore, and more complex cultures.
Kodans themselves do seem to have some lore and culture. They need more diversity in their looks. And need to be integrated into the overall game world more.
The Tengu however from the GW wiki. Has all these things to make them a interesting playable race (Diversity in looks, complex culture, and lore).

Well if you don’t like white Kodans don’t play them! RACIST (joking)
kodan can easly be customizable i mean tribal or least warriors you have markings and fur patterns just like charr. kodan to me would work due to fur patterns mix of grey white black so on. and on Skritt wasnt their lack of intellect due to well ADHD and sparatic th inking player charactors are ment to b eabove the average asura were working on tests and the skrit there kept their intellect and attention span abit and thus can work out to. just they get boons when fighting along live players wether in party or not. thus instead of imprinting on skrit or so on they work and keep their memory and attention on track due to others around them. tengu can work easly.
Why not a risen thrall with the cool moves?

This is how the charr started out. But we see some of these races are getting fleshed out as we experience the game. Hyleck have specialties in poisons and chemicles that the playable races don’t have. They can even raise poisonaous plants for potions that not even the sylvari can raise. And they are travelers to playable race cities like Hoelbrak. I really think a-net is setting them up to be playable. And really, the norn culture isn’t all that complex either. details can get added as races become playable since a simple explanation for the lack of depth can be handwaved off as knowing so little about the race.

Easy work around: “Special Skritt.” Example: Genetic mutation due to Inquest experimentation leads to an evolved colony of Skritt capable of independent thought, etc.
If there’s an expansion focusing on the Far Shiverpeak Mountains and Jormag the Kodan would make a perfect playable race. That said, I hope they don’t make them playable for entirely selfish reasons. I have every intention to make one character of each race and ever profession, and the only profession I could ever envision myself playing on a kodan character is a guardian. And I’ve put far too much time and effort into my guardian to start over now.

I’m going to make a fat short koden, with black battle markings around his eyes and ears…

lol
not sure about race change kit but yea Kodan is +1
also on skritt i can see their method of adventureing like Kobolds in dnd along they are smart but as a clan stronger faster better. and thus even lone kobold in dnd was also suicide for that said kobold thus work better as a group or strike team. so i dont think skritt are as stupid as they are claimed to be but just better off as a group but still can be adanger if given the chance. i mean a lone kobold in a cave well nice knowing you xD
i want to be a lawl grawl. to hell with civilization, Ugg make smash!
I think the Kodan would make a great playable race, maybe add a new class to go with it. I was thinking something like ‘Chi Master’ to go with their spiritual culture etc.
Could be a medium (or maybe light) armour hand-to-hand combat specialist with some chi energy attacks worked in, and a focus on buffs/conditions. Similar to a monk/pugilist style profession without at the same time being a healing class, which Arenanet have clearly stated they won’t do.
What does everybody think?
Chi master monk profession coming with new white bear race……. wow. <-[Double entendre] :P
or shaman which is usualy a tribe leader and spiritial guide .and thus you have a class that can also be healer or least more healing skills then other classes or somthing.
It is pretty obvious there will be expansions. In one of them make the Kodan a playable race.
On that note, add a “race change kit” to the game
I agree on both of these. I keep having the problem of hating my race at later levels, only to delete them to restart. Playing as a Kodan would be freaking awsome too. Other races that would be cool to play as are centaurs, tengu, QUAGGANS, and one that should have been an original playable race, the dwarfs.
