The cabalist set is one of the best looking light armor and it s not even a rare armor set. That doesn’t make me want to grind for better gear…

Keep it for the looks then, keep getting new gear for stats.

I personally enjoy high end armors very much

The point is that stats are not enough to make me want to grind. Especially given the possibilities I get from the dyes.

Don’t grind then and remain with low-level stats =)

Look, artwork of this game is great, designs are awesome. Every single one of them.
They are not created for everyone to like, you know. That’s the reason why people run around seeking for sets they enjoy (sometimes low-lvl ones even)
There are transmutation stones just for that.

If you don’t understand that, it’s your loss.
Developers are not here to satisfy your every capricious idea.

Aesthetics are in the eye of the beholder, I’m sure. I’ll bet for whatever armour you don’t like the look of, there are plenty of people that are doing their best just to get it cause they think it looks awesome.
Understand that ArenaNet cannot appeal to everyone’s taste in a single armour set, or even across various sets. You don’t like it? Well that’s why they made transmutation stones for this very reason. Don’t want to buy gems using free, in-game gold to get the stones? Then live with what you’ve got or lower your standards.

Most of the heavy armour in this game doesn’t really appeal to me but I found a set I REALLY like the look of and kept that look using stones. I don’t really see what the big deal is.

So they should change the look of some armor sets that there is likely many people that love, to make someone else happy? You gotta be kidding. Changing the look of current sets would be stupid.
Give it time maybe… eventually more armorsets will be added. Find the one set you like. Use transmutation stones.

Also – making armor look “better” is always difficult because people have VERY different perspectives on what counts as ‘better’.
Is there really no lvl 80 armor that you like though? No dungeon-armor, no cultural armor, no crafting armor, no order armor?

As Lincon said: You can please some people all of the time, all people some of the time, but never all people all of the time.

Short of ANet providing a service where you can send in designs for armour and then having them made, you’re going to get armour sets you don’t like. You just seem to be more picky.

Have you tried mix-matching to get a look you like?

My reply about quitting the game was about the ‘incentive’ Edgar talked about. People have different goals in the game and my main goal is not stats or pvp achievements but better looking gear, I was just pointing out that his comment about ‘incentive’ was misdirected.

I am not complaining about the artwork, there is no comparison with any other game I played before. My main complain is that armor designs do not really scale in quality with respect to rarity. It’s bothering me a lot to have the same looking gear at lvl 50 and 80 just with better stats through the use of transmutation stones. Fortunately, it’s not the only reason I bought this game in the first place but it makes it a lot less fun…

To reply to Frotee’s question, yes there are a couple of exotic armors I like (which I will have to transmute too) but they don’t feel as special since I can get better looking stuff for 10 silvers.

You know, I felt the same way, I was running around with my masterwork gear at lvl 80, completely satisfied, then I got my hands on some mortal pieces from the Orr temples, and changed my mind.
And I had looked at all the sets in the PvP locker before this but not found anything I liked more than my masterwork

This game is billed more towards the asian mentality regarding the visual style, that means while it has a westernised overall visual more realistically designed, it also has a specific asian touch with sexy short armors in the mix aks light ones.

It could show better progression if they would make the starting sets more like broken or badly made armors, and progressively update the look in a more organic way, but due to audience and the way they want to attract at first sight the dress lovers, I think they set to make their initial set already very nice, look at the light starting set, it’s very cool already.

Lose sense of progression a little visually, but make the game visually appealing from the start

You can transmute Armour… that’s what I do… find the skins I like and transmute them over the ugly high level gear.
