Q:

Well for many of us who started throwing hours upon hours into this dungeon, it would be great to have the difficulty account bound rather than character bound…. just because at some point we all will reach the burn out phase and to relieve that having an alt run rather than 1 char only would be a great relief to have a diversified experience without having to replay all the lvls from 1

I see 3 potential problems with this suggestion off the top of my head:

1) Playing characters of different classes does not require the same play strategies in dungeons. An elementalist feels very different from a warrior or from an engineer. At high levels of FotM, I think most players would want their fellow group members to really know their class mechanics.

2) Not having to “level” alts through the dungeon restricts the potential player base for newcomers to game and those who are slower going through content. Already we are seeing people say they want people of level 5 and 6 group members, and lets be honest unless you are in a good guild most players aren’t going to run a lower level FotM than they are able by choice.

3) The biggest issue I see, however, is that while you may have progressed on one character to high levels of FotM your alts aren’t going to have the necessary ascended gear to survive the agony at those levels. So they would get there and die extremely quickly. Gear would have to be account bound for your proposal to work.

1) yeah they do feel different, and if your not comfortable with that class would you really run a high level of FOTM

2+3) you need to understand that gaining levels for fractal of the mist is a very mind numbing process, currently ranked 7 and that took hours upon hours running through it… i can ensure you, me and about 90% of the community are not going to level a 2nd alt to do the same thing over and over just to have the leisure of playing an alt for it and i believe tokens are account bound rather than soul bound so that answers your question about being geared… i honestly see people spending 100~200+ hours leveling their char to a decent difficulty where exotic FOTM weapons drop, just thinking about repeating that process again… going through the lower level dungeons for no real reason other than to play an alt yeah, no thanks. lets be honest the majority of the people who start in a few weeks or a month will need to hope to get lucky for a grp that much is true but even by restricting the account bound difficulty that fact will not change

Well then , you answered your request on your second post did you not? Maybe Anet noticing would be harder for people to find groups later made this char bound , now if you want to use an alt , you have to begin from level 1 and this will allow player to always find stater groups, even if not so many.

Fact is most people will always be on the middle ground , the top or bottom levels will have problems, the top having much more than the bottom where anyone can join.

Thus to put it simple , i disagree with the idea. Farm on each char , if you want to keep your high level then keep only on one char , still even if only few want to do it on their alts this already will help people on the future.

i believe your misunderstanding the situation, almost no one will be willing to make a new character to play fractal of the mist after spending 30+ hours in it on 1 character and even if you are allowed to play alts you are not limited to the high level dungeon, you can self reduce difficulty of dungeons… that is why they gave us that option, and furthermore farming is about efficiency, no one enjoys farming if they do not get anything in return.. so i highly doubt anyone would want to spend 50+ hours gaining an alt to the same difficulty as their main when they can just play their main and farm what really matters
