I appologize in advance for any spelling and grammar mistakes – English is not my native language.
ArenaNet – You have done a wonderful job with the game – really – there’s a lot to love about it and enough fun to be had to last for a long time – and you keep adding new adventures for us to delve into – thumbs up!
However there’s one area, where I feel you haven’t done your own standards justice – far from actually.
For a person or an item to be Legendary – a story has to have evolved around that person or item. A weapon does not simply become legendary by it’s abbility to shoot rainbows – it’s neat in it’s own disco sort of way, but’s it’s hardly what legends are made of.
You HAVE to put a story behind the item for it to feel real – for us to get that feeling of awe and amazement – a Legendary should feel a bit humbling – like you are carrying the weight of great deeds performed in the past. As if you have something to live up to by simply holding it in your hand – you should get the feeling that you can work wonders or turn the tide of battle because you have a true Legend fighting alongside you.
I played a lot of GW(1) – and I can’t think of one single unicorn in the entire storyline, or even haven seen one in the far distance when traveling Tyria, Cantha or Elona – just to pull that as an example. However I DO remember Reyna and Pyre Fierceshot – so what I’m saying here is that, you could have made Legendary Weapons that tells the story of the thousands of battles that Reyna or Pyre fought – theres enough lore in GW(1) to pull out hundreds of great stories and add that feeling of Legend to the Legendaries – It’s probably too late now – since we have the Disco-Saturday Night Fever Bow and so on – but if you ever think of changing them or adding new ones – please, for the love of all that’s sacred in GW – add Legends to the Legendaries
