Martial Arts/Fighter-Type Profession?
I think you’re talking about the warrior. Or do you think that swinging a sword or axe around is all brute force & ruddy ignorance? I presume that what you mean is you would like some kind of Shaolin monk type class? I would be against it. Just like ninjas, people always have an utterly nonsensical idea of what they’re capable of, and whinge like mad when the class can’t do all the marvellous (OP) things they think it ought to be able to…
Having a martial arts profession would be awesome. Shaolin monk styled characters aren’t represented in MMORPGs enough if you ask me. There is a vast amount of history and cultural lore to draw from to create such a profession. Being able to create a character influenced by Bruce Lee, the Monkey King, or the Drunken Master (or many other personas, styles, and techniques) would really make GW2 unique in an amazing way.
To Raedwulf, people will always find things to complain about. If we dig deep enough, something positive can always be found in something negative. That’s the beauty of yin-yang my friend.
The power is kung fu is real!
Umm GW1 Monks were the main cross class everyone made.
I for one say no to the return of the monk why
55 Monk it was fun in GW1 no place in GW2 Personal opinion
If you don’t know what a 55 monk is just go to youtube and type in 55 monk and ss Necro underworld
I use to do 55 monk lol but yeah they did not want to create a monk for a reason, and I do not see a need for a martial arts/fighter type profession unless they mostly use weapons like gauntlets, knuckles, and ring swords.
Oh, good grief, someone resurrected this? No, the power of kung fu is not real. Neither are Bruce Lee, Monkey, or any any of the rest of them. In fact, kung fu isn’t even a martial art; it’s a movement art. Now that should annoy the hell out of a lot of poeple who’ve watched lots of films, but don’t have a clue what they’re talking about…
Do you know, HW, how to block an incoming weapon with bare hands? No? Neither do I. That’s cos it can’t be done. Hit someone with a lump of 2 by 4 and they WILL fall over. Of course, if they’re a martial arts expert, you might have a lot of trouble hitting them… But still, peoples’ idea of the power of ninjas, kung fu, blah, etc, has far more to do with with Hollywood than reality. If you want such a class, at least tell me it’s all about magic, eh?
Hmm thats more like aion chanters class too me. Anyway back to topic, I don’t see how that is going to work. Since the only class that came real close was a monk in GW1 and since monk skills has been giving to the guardian, I wonder what role can a martial arts/fighter class fit into without ruin the class balance.
I think it would be nice as a cross-class with emphasis on single-target DPS and healing (as opposed to tanking and healing like the guard). A light armored martial arts class which excels at short range combat and has enhanced healing and stamina recovery capabilities to make up for its squishiness. It could use the following weapons:
Staff
Polearms (Spear, Naginata)
Knuckle weapons
Throwing weapons
