Melee...Yawn.
I’m going to guess D/D means Dagger/Dagger weapon combo? I’m having trouble following some of your sentences, but I honestly never melee on my Necromancer, even with daggers out. I use Scepter/Dagger with Staff secondary on my Necro ankitten ever close enough to feel like I’m meleeing anything. Have you made an attempt on a Thief with two daggers yet, I find it to be pretty fun.
All of that being said, I don’t think reworking the classes to accomodate people who don’t like heavier armor would be prudent. A large portion of why the classes are different is to encourage people to play different stuff, that way you might love the Ele but not like the Mesmer. If you don’t like the Mesmer then you’d be inclined to try another class, instead. If you prefer the all dagger approach, then Thief would be a good jump to make, and coupling that with a Shortbow or a Sword/Pistol makes for some pretty nice self-combos.

Necro D/D is a hybrid weapon choice. Main hand dagger is a power weapon, which goes better with focus off-hand. Off-hand dagger is better for a condition build (thus, Scepter/Dagger). Necro dagger 1 animation does feel sort of off. It looks choppy to me, like strike – - – strike – pause strike-strike – pause, repeat. I could live with the animation if I was able to cleave — or hit multiple targets like the ele dagger.
Yeah sorry, D/D means Dagger/Dagger. I think most of the problem is that Dagger/Dagger on Necro isnt fun either. I am not saying ANYTHING about changing heavy classes. I just think that D/D on Necro could be more fun and same goes for Mesmer when it gets it.
I think on ele it is done perfect, its fun but it is also balanced. On necro it just feels “meh” its not really that fun to play and some of the skills are kind of meh as well.
Also i LOVE Mesmer, i am hoping they get Dagger/Dagger as well as Main Hand Pistol at some point as Mesmer only has Sword Melee weapon
I guess this is a personal preference thing. I don’t mind melee on my necromancer. I use dagger/warhorn on my necro because I like the stun and life force generation. It’s not as involved as elementalist, but I’m okay with that.
To me it just feels too detached, which then makes it become dull and not fun.
I think what you’re liking on Ele D/D is the mix of melee and semi-range skills. I agree with you that i don’t much care for dagger on my necro but that’s just mainly that i don’t like the skill set and don’t much care for the ‘feel’ of it. As someone else mentioned, try out a thief. they have great gap closers and bursts with quite a bit of movement skills inherent that makes the D/x thief more mobile and exciting for me.
