Merged Servers
I don’t see any reason to do this, as the server setup is working perfectly fine — aside from guesting being disabled, which they are working on, of course.
What are your reasons for suggesting this, though?

1) some servers become deserted some are too populated
2) switching servers now looses all your guild influence
#1: We have free server switches right now, making this a moot point. We’re just now outside the first month of the game, and we’ve only really begun to see stabilization of server populations and so forth. This will probably stabilize even further once guesting is complete and if server switching is changed.
#2: They are currently working on this, as far as I know.
I really dont like that fact we have multi servers. I liked how gw1 was designed and gw2 (as much as i love the game) the same of mmo everyone is used to. I like how gw1 was not affraid to place everyone in a big box even though that was only for towns im sure it is possible for the whole game to be a sandbox EVE did it and it worked.
I also do not like the way you can be in more then one guild and also represent any ol guild you want that takes away from they team aspect. I however think it is cool to be in more then one guild yet maybe one toon per guild and you cant switch you have to quit and join since they only allow you to have 4 guilds atm anyways makes no sence half my guild is representing other guilds and to me that is crazy.
Sorry maybe that part should be its own post anyways I am for one big server to be honest…
1. it would keep everyone on the same server no matter what guild or faction you in.
2. would keep the spying and cheats down to a minimum
3 would definitely make for a fun game everyone on just one server. would be interesting.

#1: I can’t really address this, as it’s a fact, not a reason to do it.
#2: It wouldn’t. It’s not something you can mechanically solve, unless you just remove WvW from the game.
#3: For some, it might, but it doesn’t appeal to all, and it’s yet more effort and time wasted on something that ANet did not design initially for. What we have now works, and GW2 was never meant to be GW1.
Seriously, there is NO server deserted, the game is barely out a month!
But yes, I liked the district approach in GW1. I am no expert on server technology, is there any good reason for this fixed server approach GW2 took?
