i ve noticed mesmers in WVW simply walk up to keep gates drop a clone through the gate and leave while the clone stays for ridiculous periods of time harrassing the gates keeping them contested.

yeah but clones are easily killed, archers can easily take them down in an arrow or two

It also means the mesmer is still around somewhere close. If you reach a certain distance from your clone/phantasms they expire. So: Search and ye shall find
