Lady Alexis Hawk – Main – Necromancer
Ravion Hawk – Warrior
Please put the Mesmers back to the way they were before they were nerfed into oblivion.
If they are that OP in PvP/W3, then use the nerfed/PvP versions of of the skills in W3 and PvP.
Let our illusions do damage, all of them. Speed up the scepter attack. PvE and W3/PvP are two separate play modes and we already know that PvE skills are going to be more powerful than the fine tuned, balanced versions used for PvP.
That and could we get a main hand pistol? Please?
I support this.
Please let us pve mesmer stay competitive and viable in open world pve, in dungeons and so on..
I want to contribute to a fight, do decent damage, support my team and whatever pleases me. ^^
The game isn’t all about killing other players, defeating them by playing AGAINST them.
It is also a game to play WITH them against foes and therefore we need to stay viable and have the possibility to be a good team fighter.
It really seems that you do not really care about that aspect in pve. Or at least not that much as it is needed.
If you must nerf the mesmer into oblivion to balance this profession for pvp, then PLEASE split more skills.
It doesn’t hurt anyone (well, except the pve foes ^^) if a pve mesmer does damage, can use his illusions wisely and support his team e.g. by buffing them nicely.
Not everyone is interested in smashing other players in pvp!
Keep that in mind, please!
:-(
Thanks. <3
how about just not being ham-handed, overzealous, and unimaginative with the nerfs — and testing them on a public test server?
This patch FINALLY got rid of an abusive exploit that was causing shatter to do A FULL 200% OF RATED DAMAGE.
Could you possibly WAIT TO SEE IF THIS WORKS before borking the only interesting and good thing to happen to mesmer pve in a while (might stacking)?
I’m posting this for the people left playing mesmer, because after the “blind makes mesmer and ONLY mesmer unable to summon” patch, and this patch, I’m done, I know ANet just doesn’t want to give the light of day to mesmers in any measured way.
I’m now playing ele, where even in cleric spec and gear I can breathe fire, then ice onto a pack (or just hit meteor shower) and get nearly every one to sparkle in a DE.
Meanwhile, thieves run around with their insta-kill-before-render mug-backstab specs and ANet makes a thread asking them how they prefer to be balanced.. allowing it to go on for months.
Stop holding double-standards to mesmers.
Wow! That received a lot of replies. :-D
It seems that either mesmers are not interested in the suggestion forum or there are too few pve mesmers or everything is just fine and we don’t see it. ;-)
I would love to have some more support from other pve mesmers who think similar and express how they feel.
For me it doesn’t make much sense what they are doing to the mesmer profession. Nerfing, nerfing, nerfing, then buffing, oh wait! too strong we need to debuff and nerf it again…
Sometimes we get some fixes – including new bugs – and after a long time we get fixed the last bugs which brings more bugs and finally we receive an update which stabilizes the class again, then some love with a lovely buff just before christmas and then it must be removed due to pvp reasons -.- (not the exploit/bug thing)
It is not fair to suffer from pvp balance changes when they easily could split it..
Why didn’t they just let it be 3 per illusion in pve?
Or at least cut it down to 2 instead of 1?
-> It makes the mesmers viable and competitive in pve and it is a great support for their group. Everyone was affected positively.
Who was responsible to arrange that they in fact increased it first?
That’s great to get some nice attention.
But how did they think it would be great for mesmers? How couldn’t they see that it might affect pvp too strong?
How did they think it is a good idea to buff it in the beginning, then realize pvp disbalances and nerf it again and just don’t care about pve mesmers???
Well, I do not really understand how that can happen, but I hope that they will do it right next time. Either test it first deeply or rethink what they want to do by considering how it affects pvp AND pve.
Give pve mesmers some love.. I know you can do it..
Thanks again. <3

PvE mesmers are fine.
And please, please, for the love of Dwayna, do not introduce more PvE/PvP splits.
Overpowered kitty like 3*10s might/illusion from Shattered Strength (which I’m assume the OP is referring to, given the time of post) has no place at all in the game, PvP or PvE. See the ugly history of GW1 for what happens when you split PvE and PvP and the balancing team goes “oh, it’s just PvE, we can leave it horribly overpowered”.
I support both the suggestion and a split between pvp and pve. A mesmer’s strengths in pve (well, and in pvp as well) is the amount of utilities they have. Problem is though that utilities won’t help you tag mobs in DEs and their damage is crap for that so very few sparkling corpses = very little loot. In pvp though mesmers can do good damage so just a flat out boost do their damage might turn them OP (of course, the more powerful version of Shattered Strength + the shatterbug (you know, the one that was so bad it needed a hot fix) still only put them at the damage a thief BS chain does but that’s another discussion). PvE and PvP have so different play styles that there seems to be a struggle to make classes balanced, that’s why I support a split.
Mesmers are fine in PvE. Please, don’t do any more PvE/PvP splits…. ever.
I was exploring PvE on my Mesmer. I ran upon another Mesmer and we starting to fight our way into a camp, once inside we took down a tough champion, with adds, just the 2 of us. Mesmers have great survivability.
I was not talking about the Shattered Strength fiasco, I’m talking about the Mesmers getting shafted left and right because ANet is trying to avoid the inevitable PvP/PvE Skill split.
What is balanced in PvP is inherently under powered when used against the PvE AI.
What is balanced in PvE is inherently over powered when used against another player.
Illusions work against players because we see the characters on the screen. Illusions don’t work against the AI since the AI can see the coding of the player character and illusions and will always hunt the player.
Since we are out in PvE working together, ALL classes should be able to pull their own weight.
Mesmer is the worst pve class for obtaining guild in meta events like grenth etc, or anywhere in orr. If there are more then 3 ppl at the event its nearly impossible to tag mobs for drops due to the lack of aoe etc. fix pl0x. I dont want to reroll a guardian/ele for farming
Just give my mesmer a good running utility skill instead if the horribly unreliable signet of inspiration and i will be satisfied.
