Mesmer mainhand pistol.
Besides the set bleed, poison, confuse, are there any conditions that are class specific? I know mesmers get a “buff” when a mantra is charged and gaurdians get a myriad of self buffs, but besides the standard conditions are there any class specific ones? I don’t think so, which is why “Mind Marker” wouldn’t work as a skill and would be more applicable as a trait imho, although I believe there is already a similar trait out at the moment.
Also, are there any skills that automatically give you three clones? If your Mind Pierce is a success, you would instantly get three clones. Other abilities which are similar make a clone appear on the first hit, or the last, but never all three.
I would love to dual-wield pistols as a mesmer but I’m not sure these abilities would work out. Great idea, needs some work imo.
There’s a skill that gives you 2 clones, mirror images.
If you have mirror images and deceptive evasion, getting 3 clones up is easy.
Also there are class specific buffs and debuffs.
Right, and probably because of that, no other weapon ability gives you more than one clone per cooldown, or in the case of scepters, autoattack rotation. I didn’t specify but I was referring to weapon abilities and skills and not profession skills.
I would say that skill # 2 is too powerful; all other weapon skills that create a clone only create 1 per cast.
I do however desperately want to be a dual pistol duel Mesmer. Hopefully they do (el) this!
I actually like those ideas. Although I don’t think MH pistol should be another condition weapon.
Mesmers are in need of a ranged main hand Direct Dmg weapon as Sceptre is more condition/utility.
I dislike the skill choices you present, but I’m fully in support of mainhand pistol for mesmers
I made a suggestion about it earlier and I’m sure others did before, but I really hope Anet will add mainhand pistol to mesmer someday

I’d definitely support a mainhand pistol for Mesmers; especially considering the mediocre number of choices available at present time. The pistol would fit in perfectly and would allow for a ‘duelist’ playstyle that could focus more on ranged power instead of conditions.
Also, it seems that at some point in time ArenaNet may have thought about implementing it as players can craft 2 named illusionary pistols: Lyss and Ilya.

Sorry for dragging this up from the depths, but I would really like to see the pistol as a MH option. Currently I feel the Mesmer is an unfinished class and lacking severely in the mainhand weapon department.
Combined with the fact that there exist 2 illussionary pistols (Lyss and Ilya) in the game leads me to believe that it was originally intended for the Mesmer to have a pistol as a mainhand option.

So why would ArenaNet have implemented 2 illussionary pistols if a Mesmer can only wield one (as an offhand)? Personally I would love to run around on my Mesmer wielding Lyss in one hand and Ilya in the other.

the problem with the pistol, as draxynic in the guild wars 2 guru forums mentioned, is to make the pistol skills ‘mesmery’ as opposed to turning the mesmer into a magical gun slinger, destroying the mesmer image.
probably why they took out the mainhand pistol is because the skills didnt highlight the mesmer aspect enough and couldnt do it without delaying the rest of the game. so they released the game without mesmer mainhand pistol (because honestly speaking, one weapon is not enough to delay an entire game for).
now that the game is released, they have until any expansion release to come up with mainhand pistol ideas that fit the mesmer theme without the need to rush it.
I do vouch for a mesmer pistol, and i think the perfect mesmer projectile would be the removed projectile that the scepter had for mesmers initially in the veil video reveal. It’s the same animation that ascalonian enchanters currently use. i’d say thats perfect for a skill 1 projectile.

Offhand pistol can already do amazing damage. Give another one in the main hand to do even more amazing damage. Illusions do 20% more damage to a target? That is the most terribly overpowered mesmer suggestion ever had.
If you want a main hand pistol, it has to be balanced with the current combinations. It can’t be better than any of them, shouldn’t be worse than any of them, and shouldn’t have easily exploitable mechanics with offhands.
So shines a good deed in a naughty world.

While I agree that the initial suggestion from the OP might not be the most optimal, the fact remains that Mesmers have very little choice concerning their mainhand options at present time.
To me the most logical addition would be a mainhand Pistol; and elements found ingame points to ArenaNet’s probable intention to include it originally (see: Lyss, Ilya and the ’Duelist’s Discipline’ Master trait).
As to the #1-3 skills, I leave that in the capable hands of ArenaNet

In the spirit of hopefully gainging the attention of Anet on this matter, I support mainhand pistol for mesmers (shameful bump).
me too, oh it would be very new, since i tryed staff and i feel a snail, i tryed greatsword and i feel overwhelmed in short range, currently i am happy only with scepter/focus, sword/sword at least in pve, i fear this combination in wvw

I too would love a main hand pistol! I love the pistol off hand skills. Staff seems painfully slow, but the ‘bouncing’ does extra damage and buffs. Scepter is ok, good to get lots of illusions up to shatter and still 2 for blinds but other than that, not much about it. I would rather have pistol instead of the one hand sword, but that is just my opinion.
