Mesmer new weapon - Harp
maybe for a skill but weapons need to be able to be used by more then one class. So maybe there could be an elite skill that brings out a harp and alters your abilities but not a weapon that you could just find and equip

Yeah, great idea
A harp would not work, believe me! I’m a (somewhat lapsed) re-enactor & Medieval Martial Artist. And a musician. And yes, I do have a medieval-size harp (horribly out of practice, though!). Just how do you think you’d use it? Just what would you do when someone tried to hit you?
You need two hands to play a harp. You can’t strum quick chord off-handedly. As a weapon, it would be extremely silly. As a slot skill it might work. And, before anyone says anything, no I don’t expect realism of GW2, but I would like to not have arrant stupidity introduced. If you want to believe Bruce Lee, Hollywood, and that those silly whirly attacks in the game are remotely feasible, that’s up to you. I will continue to smile tolerantly & enjoy it anyway. Fighting with a harp would be going too far though, I’m sorry!

You are okay with fireballs and Mesmers cloning themselves, but using a Harp as a magical weapon is too far? lolwatk.
i m a huge fan of EQ’s bards, boxed one in the first along with a sk and a dirge in EQ2
so maybe a new class in future expansions ?
Have you ever held a harp? Do you have any idea how to play a harp? No? I can imagine throwing a quick fireball & throwing myself out of the way of an onrushing enemy. I can’t imagine myself doing a quick anything with a harp. Except quickly dying as I’m stood still trying to play 8 bars of my “magical” song before I’m stabbed / gored / trampled / buried. Getting the idea yet?
Make it a slot skill, yes. Not a weapon skill. Or do you want Anet to introduce induction skills? Because that’s what you’d have to do for music. Nothing else would make any sense. After which, comes the drum, the lute, the flute, the bagpipes, the cowbell, and probably the concert grand piano… {rolleyes}
This sounds like Rift’s Bard…
I’d rather give them a whip.
I mean.. Domination magic.. whip..
Also rangers could use the whip for a full beastmaster skillset!
The trident for Mesmers under water acts kind of like a harp because of the musical notes that come out of it just the weapon doesn’t look like a harp (I suppose it could be a special aesthetic item that could be added to the gemstore that allows you to transmute a Mesmers trident into the look of a harp). Franz Mesmer actually used magnets.

There is already a cowbell in game charr lands
If the Guardian can pull out a book and read mid combat then a Mesmer could defiantly whip out a harp.
yes seraph but that book is a skill, exactly what we are suggesting the harp should be if ever added, not a weapon type like sword or mace

It makes just as much sense as the focus, which more often than not is random cobbled together junk in a handle-like shape.
