Based on the recent meteor which struck in Russia, I heard the fragments from the meteor are extremely valuable because its such a rare mineral (like 600 times more expensive than gold), and people are paying for it to put into jewelery, etc – I thought it would be awesome if in the Flame & Frost living story a meteor could strike somewhere, from which would be the only place to attain this valuable material which could then be used in crafting to make extra special items.

maybe the game doesn’t need another high-end resource but just an idea that grabbed my imagination and could tie into the weather theme of Flame & Frost.

Depends on what’s in the meteor. Usually it’s just ferrite with high carbon and a bunch of radioactive isotopes. With a bit of luck it has traces of Rhodium or Platinum which could make it slightly more valuable (and slightly more cancerous)

If you want to pay 600 times the price of gold for a dirty iron jewel that gives you cancer, be my guest. The only reason people pay for it, is because it comes from out of space. Apart from that, not really special. You could make a jewel like that from household stuff (bar the cancer, that’s unique for meteors)

The only reason why meteors used to be so popular back in the iron age, was because of carbon content. It was an ore that melted into steel instead of iron. But that was 4000 years ago.

Why didn’t you try to connect this to something that has already fallen from the sky in the game previously. Remember the Searing, of course those crystals were huge but I am sure a little archeology could reveal fragments the perfect size to craft “unusual items” with.
