Miniatures, time for an update maybe?
But this is a suggestion
Currently playing Heart of Thorns.
I agree with the OP. I dislike even having to summon my necro minions again every time I go through a portal. Not sure what the pic is for though. lol
More of a discussion that included a suggestion.
Image gave an example of a UI box for minis.

I love the look of that UI box for minis. +1

Man I’m blind. Was the big red arrow always there? lol
make a new slot in our (H) hero panel.
an inventory slot.
we slot them in there, and there a small check box to tick to show or hide.
just like our
- helms
- shoulders
- gloves
- back piece
Really hoping for a polymock mini-battle game where each mini has a set of skills.
That would really make minis more interesting- and crank up their collectability status.
I am not saying this suggestion isn’t a good idea. Surely, many people have requested something like this.
But, I have to wonder at our society….that finds clicking an icon or two with the mouse or keyboard ‘too much work’. =P

I don’t consider it too much work. I consider it immersion breaking. I’m doing my think, and every single time I have to summon my minions or open my bag. It’s not an ideal situation is all. It’s not too much work. It’s something I’d much not rather have to think about at all.
Well, think of it this way: Your poor miniature is deathly afraid of travel through portals, and will only be mollified by traveling in your inventory bag! Same with defeat…he/she/it scurries into your bag to avoid the same fate! Lol. Immersion.

Near the WvW gates at LA there’s these circular enclosures that to me, have always looked like arenas for mini combat — maybe something that Anet never got around to implementing?
I think there is a portal to the polymock arenas in Rata Sum, though it isn’t currently viable.

Not really the kind of immersion I was thinking of/talking about.
I’m talking about I’m focused on doing something. Whatever it is. That takes me through a gate. My mind isn’t on (or shouldn’t be on) getting out my mini. I shouldn’t really have to think about it. It’s not game breaking if it stays out.
It’s bad enough I have to cast four spells with my necro every time I go through a gate. If something happened to be close to a gate, I’m starting a fight with no minions out. It doesn’t happen often but it does happen. Worse yet, the load screen takes longer than my character to appear on the server.
So now I finally load in, I’m half dead, I have no minions summoned and I still have to remember to take out my minipet?
No thanks.
I agree with the minions, it’s a bummer. Going into water destroys some of mine, as well.
As for the minis, they never fixed it in GW1, but maybe some day they will fix it in GW2.
Here’s to hoping! =)
I agree. Making Minis more user friendly would be an incentive to buying more. They also tend to bug in various ways when I go through Mesmer portals.
@Inculpatus: Your minions will stay when you have the same minions selected in and out of water. However that it puts the summoning skill on cooldown is to me a bug that needs fixing. One of the many bugs that explain why you see almost no Nekros with minions.
Well, it depends on which minions one uses. =)
Really? No Necros with minions? I must play on an odd server, as I see them a lot.
Thanks for the tips, though, appreciate it. =)
WOW i love that photoshopped fake button honestly. I totally agree with you OP. I used to love minis in gw1, in gw2 i have about 60+ mini’s and never have used them besides showing them to friends in row who havent seen em yet.
THIS IS AN OUTRAGE
I’d like them to not be deposited as a collectible. Instead make a Tab for mini-pets and have us “learn” them. Thus making them account bound and accessible whenever you want. Can’t count how many times I hit “deposit collectibles” to clear my bags only to put my pet away too.

For that I carry my mini-horde around in invisible bags. Is also nice for the assorted items your drag around that your don’t want to accidently sell. It’s a nice investment. Bonus tip: put it in the last bag slot to avoid filling it with trash all the time =3

Indeed it does. Doesn’t help us with the flesh golem since it’s not available under water. It’s a bit mean that we Necros get punished for dipping our toes into water q_q Maybe it’s to discourage us from swimming so as to explain why we produce stink-clouds with almost every skill? XD
Hm, I barely see High lvl Minion masters. Maximum is the Flesh Golem, but since the other Minions still have so many issues, many shy away from them. I respect the players that can make them work.
This suggestion has come up many times in the past and I’m not sure why Anet haven’t changed it yet. I assume they don’t like the idea for some reason, but I can’t imagine why that would be.

Good discussion
Bump from more discussion
While in Guild Wars 1 the minis did sit in the inventory, they didn’t disappear. My biggest complaint is that as soon as I use the “deposit” function in my inventory, my minis disappear into my bank. I then have to go to LA or some other place with a bank, fetch them out, and bring them back out…until I click the “deposit collectibles” button, and the horrible cycles repeats. Yes, I know there are special bags or safe boxes that one can put items in and the items (including minis) won’t disappear. But I generally don’t have them, nor do I like using them because stuff that I don’t want in them tends to get stuck and…well it is a minor nuisance I know, but it is one that keeps me from using, buying, wanting, or caring about minis. I guess what I’m saying is I wouldn’t mind minis being in the inventory as much—although I do agree with the suggestion of having a mini slot on the “H” menu—if they didn’t disappear all the time. In GW1, I have my minis out and about all the time—fungal wallow ftw. In GW2, I never use them because of the “deposit” issue, which is a shame—they’re cute.
Supporting this!
I always support every suggestion involving persistent minis. Yes please.

The thing about minis in GW1 is that your inventory didn’t fill half the screen, so you could leave it open and get your minis out whenever. WTB option to resize my inventory icons…
I think an UI icon would be overshot. From my point of view there are just two things need to be done:
First they need to be re-activated automatically after you leave the water and even better after down state, because in wvw this is a common state…
And second thing is, they need to get some more love. It could not be that the majority of them cannot swim, even if they represent a water animal… As also set 2 is just a slap in the face to miniatures lovers. I have the feeling it is mostly just to make money with gems… E.g. “mini seraph archer” and “mini seraph medic” absolute same model, only weapon differs. Nothing else, not even the kitten armor color… Seriously A-Net?
