Minipets need a bit of love where their functionality is concerned. I’m a minipet addict, but in GW2 I gave up using them. A few things that I think would make the minipets amazing (and no longer frustrating) would be:

1. Summoning the minipet will keep it with you regardless of waypoint/portal/changing zones/dying and will only leave your side when you desummon it or summon a different minipet.

2. Your summoned minipet matches your character’s speed. (I found it quite annoying to be constantly outrunning my minipet with my various characters that have run speed bonuses only to have it blink to my location while I again outrun it… over and over.)

3. Some kind of UI thing for summoning whatever minipets you own without having to keep them in your bags would be awesome, too ;)

I looooove minipets, and I really hope that at least those first two points are considered so that the minipet system isn’t something that feels like a cumbersome thing to remember to do all the time, but instead is just you and your little buddy who’s always with ya.

I completely agree with you I find it annoying when my mini is lagging behind me a little bit and I just hate that every time I waypoint or die that I have to resummon them. I don’t use/buy them for that reason alone. I know nobody from Arena Net will probably read this but if you could put something in so that we can just put them into the Hero Equipment [H] panel like you do with weapons or armour that would be bloody brilliant!

I just got my first mini-pet the other day and I couldn’t agree more.
Mini-pet speed increase would be neat but I am dying for an auto-summon or something for them, having to summon em everytime I enter a new area is an immense pain in the side.

Yeah, it seems like these are the minipets’ issues that are most complained about. I know I for one would actually start acquiring more minipets if the summoning and movement speed of the minipets was improved.

Re-summoning them is my biggest problem. I am constantly moving through zones, and because of this I’ve pretty much stopped having them in my inventory all together when I’m not in LA. I would love more functionality for my mini-pets.

Also… can we please have mini-pet brawls?

Hey, ArenaNet! If you make mini pets more awesome, maybe more people will buy your lovely event minis!

OP, I like your suggestions. #3 could be solved by adding a “mini pet equipment” slot in the hero panel. You could also have separate armor and town clothes minis equipped that way, too.

The only downside I can think of is that LA would be covered in mini pets. But that means everyone would collect minis (or at least buy one to fill the equipment slot). And that means the gold price of minis would go up, which means Anet would sell more minis…

Okay, so better minis isn’t a downside for anyone.
