Minipet Improvement(s)
They should also not be horrible.
That is to say minipets start running 5 minutes after you do and are always 60 feet behind you, whereas real pets (ranger) are always right up next to you.
Why even HAVE a mini pet if you never see it? I bought a mini pet pack from the gem store and regretted it so bad. They’re so pointless. They have to be re-enabled every time you move around and you never see them.
I’ll agree that the minipet movement leaves something to be desired alright, especially when you have some innate speed boosts like signets or traits. Though my suggestion would fix your second point since you’d only have to chose whether or not it’s displayed once, not every time you zone.
I agree with your idea, nobody use minipets because occupy slots in the bag
Challenger of the Arena
minipets in GW2 are completely and utterly useless. In Guild Wars 1 minis were highly desired, but now that you can only buy them with rl cash nobody cares about them. It just sucks.
As for equipment slot though, I totally agree, I could at least display my mini Rytlock.
I love the idea of having an equipment slot for the mini.
-Throw desired mini in slot
-Have slot with a “visible/not visible” check-box
-In the collections, have all collected minis listed
-Scrolling over a mini in the collections displays the character that has said mini.
The running speed thing is also a bit weird. I shouldn’t have to keep slowing down so mini-golem can catch up >.>

Actually they can be used in the Mystic Forge, though not sure what the result is.

Alternativley if adding these features, to make mini pets more useful,
have them apply some kind of buff, which is minor, but still useful.
Was searching for a suggestion like this, glad others agree as it seems like an obvious improvement to the currently lacking mini pet system.

Also, no. 100% no to this. Mini Pets must remain purely cosmetic, as they were meant to.
Edit: Also the result of using Minis in the forge is the same as other items, a gamble at better Mini pets or different ones. Put 4 of the same rarity, you have a chance at getting one at the next tier.
Instead a slot to equip, why not going further to a panel to choose?
- Click the miniature slot icon in the hero panel, and you get a dropdown list of all available collections.
- Click on the name of a collection, and you get a panel with all miniatures in that collection, similar to the Ranger pet selection panel, with those you don’t have collected grayed, and those you have collected fully colored.
- Click in one of the colored miniatures you have, and it gets instantly equipped from the bank.
- Select a different one and the current one gets automatically sent to bank, and the new one gets equipped.
- If the ‘show/hide’ corner checkbox is disabled, enable it.
- Now, whenever you enter an area or zone away to some new place, the client automatically tries to show the selected miniature, so you don’t have to remember to do it yourself every kitten time you change areas or use a waypoint far away in the same area.
I agree with a lot of these ideas.
Surprisingly I agree with the buff one. Before anyone screams NO ONLY COSMETIC at me, here is why.
You can spend 16c-2s on food from an npc for a 30 minutes buff (food) that while negligible is still good.
If your going to spend gems/several silver/gold on a mini-pet, why not have a permanent version of the same buffs? Higher quality pets (which sell for more in AH and have a rarer chance in boxes) provide the higher level buffs. There are also the buffs you can get from the things you make in hunstman, artificer, etc. Why NOT have a small buff that fits the theme of the pet?
Fire Imp=when returning from a downed state, your attacks burn for 10s
Ice Imp=when under the effect of a boon, your attacks have a 5% chance to freeze.
Eir Stegalkin (sp?)= When afflicted by a condition your precision is increased 5pts.
I mean if we are talking equiping them, why not give them something, especially if it is obtainable through other means, such as consumables?
This would mean more people would use them, since they aren’t just getting in the way anymore (I stowed mine because I kept thinking it was a mob that would attack me). It would create a more demanding market for them, both in the gem store and in auction house.
