Those sometimes cute, sometimes cool little creatures you can just summon and let them walk next to you. Wazzup with those? Why do they exist? Just for decoration? At the moment – yes. But I would enjoy a small change!
First of all – they should be summoned once and stay outside, they should not disappear or simply resummon themselves automaticly when entering a new map.
Now the topic: LOOTPETS!
Yes that’s right! How about a mini that goes and seeks for loot?
If you kill an enemy on 1000 range, the mini runs, loots, comes back.
Is the enemy on another terrain? Minis should just move over terrain witout interruption, direct way.
Too busy to loot adds during a bossfight? Well don’t worry, your mini does the job.
Some heavy zerg activities? Can’t see s s**t? Well your mini does!
You died during a bossfight or somewhere and you see a chest but fear it to disappear? Well, your mini’s still alive and grabs the exotic weapon and puts it right into your bag … next to your corpse o.O
It would make minis a bit cooler don’t you think? Support this thread for useful Minis!

While that would be cool, do we really want thousands of people running around with their mini’s out? They are already intrusive enough into other’s gameplay, I don’t think making them a requirement helps their case.
To each their own, a special, really hard to get mini that I don’t see everyday that grabs loot, sure. I just don’t want to be forced to collect minis. Something like this would make me feel forced to have a mini out at all times, which I do not want to do personally.

I have the AoE auto-loot feature assigned to my “L” key (for Loot). The poor mini would have an aneurysm trying to be faster than I can hit “L”. Although the idea isn’t bad, it really doesn’t add anything of value here.
Now if minipets didn’t get dumped into the collection tabs when you hit “Deposit all collectibles”, that would be wonderful!

Agreed! I see that side of it now as well. The deposit all collectibles is actually the only reason I don’t let my mini priest out, I keep dang depositing him :P He’s the only mini I have that I really like anyway.

You don’t have to collect them all like Pokemon Just one you like and it helps you with…
…of course their own AoE loot if there is much around!
If you don’t want to deposit them, just put them into an invisible bag. You anyway should have one with you for your other weapons, just fill it with stuff you need (salvage kits, minis, bufffood, flute, rings, alt equip…)
It would make them useful, you don’t have to loot anymore Why not? I demand a toggle however (turn loot mode on/off)

I am curious. How do they “intrude” on your gameplay? They are simply graphic pets that don’t affect the game in any way except to make people happy by having one (or more.)
If they gave buffs, take loot, kill your mobs (a la Ranger Pets) or anything else directly affecting the game itself, then I would agree, but right now all they are is eye candy to those who like them.
Off topic and for the record: I don’t mind having to jump through a minipet following someone around in a jumping puzzle, but I can’t see kitten through a ranger pet. Please put them away until you’re actually fighting something? please? pretty please?

For the reason you listed specifically, it’s a distraction and annoyance more often than me seeing one and saying “Oh that’s a cool mini”. It’s usually "Grrr I can’t see this NPC through this pet/mini/what have you.
I like the idea of putting away ranger pets until in combat though, would solve a lot of issues with them being in the way.

Well. I’ve been playing GW2 since inception, and GW1 since shortly after that came out and this is probably one of the more notable stupid moments I’ve felt in all that time.
I’m going to go sit in this corner over here and be embarrassed. Oh… and thanks.
More convenience is always nice (only having to whip out your mini at every kitten corner, not so much), but I just assigned both AoE loot and auto attack to the same button on my mouse (scroll wheel click). Never had issues looting ever again.

This would be pretty convenient. I’d also like it if the pet acted sort of like how pets do in Torchlight, where you can load him up with crap when you’re in a dungeon and he’ll go back to town and sell it to a merchant and return with your gold.
Minipets in this game are overlooked massively. I don’t want to have to reload the little bugger from my inventory every map. Give us a slot on the hero screen that’s for mini pets so it auto loads the mini you have equipped. If they want to add in other features then great.
