Mistfire Wolf skill cooldown too long.
Technically, you paid for the skill and other various things with this edition (I bought this as well) but the trade off for the skill is that it was an automatic elite skill that you didn’t need to invest points in to receive. So, in essence, you didn’t need to have saved up the other skill points to get one of the other elites to use when you turned 30 (I saved points, but maybe it was just me). But, if the other skill you mentioned has a shorter cool down and lasts longer, it’s the better option to use.
I would think because this skill came with a special edition, it would have different restrictions compared to skills everyone can obtain through progress in the game.
Hooray, I’m barely or no player because I’m only using that skill as my elite.
In all seriousness, I’m a Norn Ranger and my play style is mostly ranged. Out of all my options I find the Mistfire Wolf to be the most useful. Besides, I like the looks of the Mistfire Wolf and his pups and they saved my skin already in so many situations when I needed extra damage or more pets to take the heat off of me so I could heal up/rally.
I did get 2 other elites (Rampage as One because it is the only one working under water and Become Wolf to try out a more hands on melee elite) and they have their uses, but personal preference let’s me use the Mistfire Wolf as long as I’m not under water.
And for your other points: I’m with Elle on that one.
Every pre-order has the skill and you can save lots of skill points if you don’t get any other elites. Skill points that in the end can massively shorten the time it will take you to get 200 and buy the Mystic Forge item to get legendary weapons.
If you [note: general you, not you Joxa] are not interested in the Mystic Forge or Legendary weapons, then I suppose my last point is moot.
I was wondering what the deal was with that skill, as I didn’t pre-order or buy a deluxe edition. For me, it still shows up under the elite skills tab where I purchase skills, but it’s grayed out. They should really either remove it completely from versions that don’t have it unlocked, or make it purchasable for 10 skill points like all the other elites for everybody who didn’t pre-order.

I didnt think of it that way. I guess you are right.

Oh ok thats good to know. I guess its useful depending on what race and class you are playing.
