Currently when you craft a legendary weapon it always comes out with power, toughness, and vitality on it. If you want different stats, say power, precision, and critical damage, then you are forced into transmuting it, lowering its tier from legendary to exotic.

Now, this wouldn’t be a problem if exotics were always going to be the highest tier equipment, but with the announcement of Ascendent equipment, and potentially even higher grade equipment in the future, this is no longer the case.

Legendary weapons will be getting an update in their stats to always stay equal to the highest tier equipment, but this only works if it is still a legendary tier item, which requires you to never transmute it.

See the problem here? To keep your weapon in the legendary tier, and for it to be continually buffed every time a new tier of equipment is released, you need to keep its default stats.

To address this problem I suggest a simple solution; allow us to pay a small fine to modify our legendary weapon stats to whatever we please.

I fear people who already transmuted their legendary to exotic level already are raging bad – I’ve already got my legendary and I think the stats are fine, although I’d really like it if you could left click it and scroll to different stats. Yes, this is a little over powered compared to exotic fixed gear, but the amount of time spent getting one(compared to exotic gear) Isn’t even close, so I think it’d be a good idea.

A left click option to change its stats also sounds viable, and I don’t think it would be overpowered due to the difficulty in obtaining a legendary.

Having a way to change it’s stats would be a great benefit of having all set of legendary weapons instead of exotic/ascended except the looks on a character. You would not have to carry all different sets of exotic weapons for specific occasions, would be epic even if you’d have to pay each time you do this (with either coins, karma or skill points).

Right now, you are either forced to keep legendary but not use it if you don’t like the stats, or transmute an exotic item into it, which is problematic and you don’t have your legendary weapon anymore, just exotic weapon with a look of legendary…

One solution to the problem of higher stats than current Legendary weapons is:
– Treat Legendary weapons like HoM items. No stats, just a skin. So you can stick the skin on whatever stats you like.
– Whenever ANET raises max stats, everyone owning a Legendary gets one Fine Transmutation stone for each Legendary they own. Each stone is intended for sticking the Legendary appearance on the new max stat weapon.

I agree with this. This wouldn’t be any stronger than an exotic and you get the stats you want that fits your play style. +1

Last time I checked anet was scaling the stats of legendaries upwards to keep them slightly better then everything else.

Where are you getting your information from? Legendaries will match the highest tier gear but will go no further. They won’t be slightly better than everything else…

Since when have Legendaries had higher stats than other items ?

Also I know that ANET is scaling the stats upwards. Pity that is of no help to people who change builds when new stats become available.
