Good evening. =)
I’ve been thinking. We have Monks in GW1, who are magicians (healers). What if we will have monks in GW2, but not as magicians? Monks from our real world?
I would like to see such Monk in Guild Wars 2, who can fight like Shaolin. I think such monk would be grate class in the future.
Not a healer, but a normal fighter like in our real world, using for fighting fists, legs, stuff(not magic stuff, but normal – for beating oponents), sword, naginata…

I think this is a good idea.

Monk is almost as overdone as warriors in MMOs, but to be honest, they’ve also always been my favorite classes to play (DDO still has my favorite implementation of a Monk).

Problem is here, hand combat would require either new weapons (gloves, wraps, etc) to allow for the stats weapons would normally give. And pretty much every monk weapon is exotic, so they would need full weapon sets (aka so much work it would never happen), or just be shoved into existing molds which I think would break the flavor a bit.

Short answer: Don’t think it will happen.

While I don’t think Monks in this form or the other form will make it into the game, I will say that I really hope that Asian weapons come out with a Cantha expansion! I want a katana.
