I’ve always had the idea of the daily achievement to be casual and be able for everyone to get but the monthly should be something more valuable, something to activate the people to do something.
50 wvw kills, 12 jp’s, 10 dungs are almost daily tasks for a descent player and you don’t have to do anything special for champ slayer/events/skill points and the completionist either.
Monthly achievements don’t really need to be something to be that easy to get. It could be a way to let people do stuff that they wouldn’t do otherwise if the reward of the monthly would be worth it.
Who slays Giants these days? No one, well, add a monthly task “slay 25 giants”, people will gather up for it and enjoy something they forgot about, they might even go to places they’ve never been before.
Want to get the dust off the turrets stationed at tequatl? Add 10 tequatl kills to the monthly.
What about exploring? All those waypoints are making it so easy to travel, what about a task “travel from Metrica Province to Field of Ruin without using any waypoints or portal device”?
What about the mini-dungeons like Forsaken fortune or Vexa’s lab? Add some of those.

These are just a few things crossing my mind but there are plenty of other things that could use the attention of being in a list of monthly things to do. List up 10 of those and give the reward when 8/10 are completed. Get the reward up a bit and people will do it, there are enough people who are up for a challenge that want to do something they usually wouldn’t. You just have to give them an opportunity and a reason to do so…

They are worked out in a way that players on infrequent playtimes can also achieve them. Stop feeling entitled to something that is actually there for everyone.

I wouldn’t call him entitled. He’s not asking for them to be easier.

He just wants to be rewarded for doing things that he feels more worth the AP and laurels you get and is that really so bad?

However, you are right in saying that the monthly, like the daily, are designed so that most players can do them, even the players who don’t have a large amount of time to dedicate to the game can do them.

I just think the tasks should encourage people to do things they wouldn’t do otherwise. There’s no point in putting events/dungs/skill points in there since everyone already does it on a daily basis or get’s it just by playing normally. I just think they could do more with it (or add an extra category for veteran players who want a challenge)

currently, I think the Monthly are extremely easy. Yes, I get it, its made for people who don’t have a lot of time on there hands. But I would love to see them actually take more than a 4 days to do. After you completed the four Monthly task need ( this should hold true for Dailies as well) you should be given 2 or 3 more task. theses task should take longer to do and complete., with an increase of the Rewards as well.

One Monthly can be something like, kill 5000 Players in WvW. this may take a Month to do. Something that says " this may take me longer the a few days to complete."

I have no problem with dailies and monthlies being easy, because any game needs to cater to casual play styles to a certain extent.

I do think the daily and monthly achievement points should cap at the requirement (5 daily points, 40 monthly points) so that they aren’t grind-able.

I think the permanent achievements should require a certain amount of effort to complete. I’m not saying all of them should be difficult. I think they should vary, with the more difficult, obscure, or humorous ones awarding titles.
