More Dungeon Types
bump it up ^^
Hmm, as it looks has the English part of the forum alot more people which just suggest stuff, but not many people which answer to something … somehow sad..
Just overlooking the first 5 pages and so many threads with no answers…
I’d like to hear here opinions of others ^^
come one guys, has here no one an opinion about this ?…
I start to believe I should have posted this better maybe in the German part of the forums. There I think I would have had already several answers in the topic, even knowing that the english speaking community is much bigger (naturally) :P
Come on, don’t let me lose the hope here ^^ Don’t want to see this topic ending in the thread nirvana with no discussion inside it xD
I definitely think that ANet could expand into your ideas however random dungeons will be quite hard as people who grind the content will eventually see it all and it wouldnt be as adventurous.
but I do like the idea of dungeons as a solo or 3 man content designed to challenge players.
the only thing i dont think will work is the raid dungeon,
I would like however to see an arena style dungeon where the players compete against the AI of random mobs to the death and the rewards will be gold/loot. additionally you could add a competitive edge to this by displaying who got the furthest number of rounds

I like that, and should be easy for Anet to do, afterall a mini version of that is already in effect as part of one the hearts in plains of ashford (charr starter area)
Ya, that i personally would love to see too ^^
Lets call it THE COLLOSSEUM, place it somewhere, like onto the claw island, to make that place revisitable after clearing it from all the undead and let have there fights to no end, until no end xD
Something like Darksiders 2 Style, there is also a kind of collosseum, where you have to fight 100 rounds of mounters and the battles become like every 10 rounds harder and harder and so further you get, so bigger and more epic are the rewards at the end …
However, this is something, that I wouldn’t call a Dungeon ^^ Its a nice thing as content to challenge either single players as also groups. A good idea, but as said, it hasn’t much to do with this topic

Why shouldn#t raid dungeons work ? GW2 has already WvW, where hundreds of players are on 1 map, where nobody can see all the health bars from all other participating allies, so how should be Raid Dungeons anyhow different, than how WvW works so far ??
Raid Dungeons could be even more limited in group size of participating players, than the amount of people which can run around in WvW Maps.. it should perfectly work…
PS: yippie for a discussion hooray ^^ thx lol

lore wise there should be a place for this in lions arch… it got burnt down (iirc) by Rytlock, Logan and Caithe because Caithe decided that she should stand up for a defenseless animal.
A raid requires teamwork, not a zerg. The more people you get together the more the game feels like a zerg as opposed to a organised group.
That said maybe a 10man group could make it. But you would need fights like the lovers in AC, and content that requires the group to be organised to complete.
And then income the whiners whining about how they cant complete it because they tried it with an “awesome” group and the group did nothing wrong!…. then it gets nerfed into a state where the braindead can complete it.
did you know that in beta, dungeons were hard. people were struggling to complete them… which is how it should be. but the whiners whine.
If raids were what they were meant to be and A-Net stuck to this then maybe it could work.
there was a dungeon that when you entered it, it flashed a light at a sequence of pillars… you had to organise yourselves to recreate this pattern. that was fun!
I really like your suggestions. I love dungeons and I’d like to see more of them and different types. I wouldn’t mind old maps getting recycled, but new ones would be awesome. We’ve seen how awesome work Anet can do with dungeons and how they’ve improved their work (Normal dungeons → fractals). I’m totally confident they could make really awesome stuff with those ideas. Maybe a good plan for the end of this year’s big content update?
Good ideas here. I would also like to see “expert explorable mode” where the dungeon is scaled to 80 and returned to pre nerf status.
Solo dungeons made an appearance with the last couple of patches, vexxas labs and that tomb in Lornars or Dredgehaunt. The tomb mini dungeon with the darkened room was amazing fun, I would love to see more of that.
I really like the ideas about dungeon types. I love the very idea of large scale raid play with a guild. I know many people cringe when they here that but it promotes the most social play for players such as myself.
I brought 12+ players over and it’s sad to see that there is little to no end game for us hardcore players that want an incredible challenge regarding PvE. We don’t play much anymore because it’s not drawing us in to playing as often. Most haven’t even returned because they feel something is lacking.
ArenaNet, please broaden the scope for players such as myself that want really challenging content that isn’t easy to master. It’s a plus for developers to test there skills script wise and making incredible boss mechanics. It sounds great for them to innovate and think of new ways of drawing players more into the game.
I read Colin’s recent articles and it seems he knows the community cringes when they here the word “raid”. It’s practically become cliche for little reasons.
What’s wrong with progression within a raiding scenario if it will bring more players into the game? It would sure bring most of my friends back. You all have the perfect tools to innovate beyond any company in regards to event systems.

sound to me like you should try and get to highlevel fractals
bump
if really only the word “Raid” is the problem for many people, because it does pop up in the mind of many people some kind of “bad experiences” they made with other games..
Then I’d say just rename the concept for these kind of Dungeons into Conquest Dungeons or something like that ^^
@Gummibear
I’m not sure how equating fractals to large scale group play correlates to what I wrote. Did you read one sentence and just post?
