Simple request~

-Allow us to wear any STYLE of clothing as armor/ Transmute the look of it to something else.

-Character creation clothing options.

I play on the unofficial RP servers, It bothers me that on my Guardian, I’m restricted to only heavy armor. I should be able to wear a cloth hood or a hat just because I can. There is just too much restriction on these options.

Funny, if I was an RPer, i’d argue the exact opposite of what you proposed. Your proposed feature exists in asian MMOs and I suspect that the Town Clothing feature was implemented as something like a compromise in the face of complaints that fighting in a bunny suit was considered “immersion-breaking”.

It also might explain why players may not fight while under the effects of a Tonic.

Having said that, Town Clothes seriously need an Options feature to toggle auto-swapping Armor and Clothing when entering and leaving cities and other non-combat zones. Some have argued implementing complete a wardrobe feature to manage multiple outfits but that may be asking too much.

Uh…I think there is a toggle feature already. Check in the options (F11) and look though the list that holds the keys for movements/ interface in the game (you know, where you assign a key to dodge for example). The town clothes swap option is there, you can assign a key to it. I’ve assigned the ‘C’ key to mine

I’d like to see more cultural town clothing and cultural armor options, preferably ones that don’t cost gems, and can be bought with gold or karma.

I know right?
I’m actually drawing a whole bunch of concepts to share later when I’m done with a lot of them. Cultural armor needs work.

Yea I would like to see more clothing options myself and weapon skins. Every staff I’ve gotten since lvl 2 to now a lvl 35 have looked EXACTLY the same other than one I got from doing a story quest. I went as far as going to the Trading Post and just buying a different looking staff that wasn’t for my level and Transmuting it for the appearance so I didn’t have to see that dull wood staff with a yellow-green core at the top.

Definitely would like to see more variety of armor and weapons skins!! I don’t mind transmuting things, but looking pretty much exactly the same for 30+ levels is a bit lame.

My P2P MMO, Rift, had this issue at the beginning of their release as well, but, has definitely stepped it up a ton with the types of armors and weapon skins and I hope that GW2 does the same!

What the OP is asking for is the ability to transmute between armor weights. I don’t think any of the current armor classes have bunny suits available to them. And as an RPer, I think it would be great to have that feature, even if it required special transmutation stones. The only differences between armor of different weight classes are stats and style, and the ability to mix and match the styles of different weights would result in a lot more options for unique character looks. And yeah, they weren’t designed to go together, but before the cross-type armor preview was (temporarily) removed, I still found quite a few pieces that went well together (and plenty of the armor sets we can currently mix are hard to find matches for outside of their set).

You are correct, there is a way to assign a hotkey to swap armor and clothing. However, it is better to have an option to have it done automatically when entering and exiting cities. This makes managing clothing much easier and thus makes people more inclined to care about the clothing feature.

I think that ANet are inevitably going to be adding more armor sets, if only when they add in more dungeons. But, what I’ve run across on more than one occasion is that I work really hard to get an armor set and then I end up transmuting over it in a moment of poor judgment. It’s really difficult to keep a closet of the sets that you really like if you have to purchase a whole new 80 exotic armor set for each one to be skinned over.

This would be a big change to game mechanics, but I’m hoping for some sort of armor and weapon skin unlockable system, similar to the one currently available for dyes. You’d still need to use Transmutation Stones to use the skins, but once you acquired the armor/weapon it would always be available to you, perhaps through some sort of personalized armorsmith/weaponsmith NPC’s.

So, I won’t have wasted 250k karma on a set that I skinned over.
