Yesterday these thoughts hit me like a truck suddenly, while making the JPS for the monthly as I was in Lions Arch…

How does it come, that from all towns of the game, only Lion’s Arc has Jumping Puzzles??
Why has no other town Jumping Puzzles?
Would it be bad to have some there too?
Would it make the game better?

Then I sadi to myself only instantly in my mind … I don’t know why anet did it that way, but it wouldn’t absolutely harm the game to implement there in some future patchs new jumping puzzles and it would absolutely make the game better !!

Divinities Reach is so big, why not change the down design a slightly biit so that as like in LA, 3 JPs could be found there ?

1 that leads over the rooftops of some houses in a west district
1 for east district and 1 maybe in the personal home district.
I think you guys are creative enough to find some ways to implement JPs into DR.

Same for Rata Sum, the Sylvari hometown, the Black Citadel and Hoelbrak.

This would also lead to a little incentive, that more players will visit again also all the othe towns. (together with finalyl implementing all of those missing activities finally like polymok, the shooting minigame, bar brawls ect.)

Personally I like the idea behind sub classes ~ quoted from Chris Whiteside

Seriously? What possible reason could there be to negative ten something like this? There should be only two sides: Yes I want more jumping puzzles and putting them in the cities is fun. I don’t enjoy jumping puzzles and so I wouldn’t gain anything by this, but it doesn’t effect me either way and there are people who do enjoy it so whatever.

Where does, I don’t like it so you shouldn’t have it fit into that?

Yeah a bit harsh of me, some people like them, I hate them.

If you like them good for you, in my opinion there’s far too many of them.

And there are jumping puzzles that prevent me from completing other achievements, world completion and dive master for two, so it does affect me in other ways.

Solid, this is not true…

You don’t need to do JPs or dive master for anything around World Completion.
If you hate JPs, nobody is forcing you to do them ..
But alot of the playerbase of GW2 likes them alot.
You lose, nor miss anything if you don’t make JP. The only thing that you won’t receive by not making them is achievement points, but thats nothing that you can’t also gain by countless other ways …

For World Completion you need only to do Hearts, Skill Points, Vistas and explore the Maps to 100% by the Exploration Points.

New Jumping Puzzles doesn’t mean that the towns will get new exploration points and that you need to do them in order to get Map Completion for the town to 100%
In the whole game theres only 2 exceptions I can think of, where you need to do 1 super simple JP, in order to get map completion and to another JP and thats in the Caledon Forest, the Morgan Spiral one and that Cube thing, but you don’t have to make it, just enter it to explore a tiny bit of hidden land…

By giving the game new JP’s the game gets more interesting, its just simple new content to do, easy implementable and would harm nobody.

However, I don’t care if you write now a -10 or a -10 million, it doesn’t express anything, other than that you simply doesn’t like making the 98% optional JP’s.
However, just being against something, that will be optional and won’t harm you, especially in the towns I do find a bit silly, especially when posting no reason then …
Then again, ok, we noticed now your statement.

Any other people here who would have some serious personal problems with having some new JP’s in the other towns to bring some live into them ??
As I strongly believe, it can’t be seriously intented by ANet, that just only LA and DR are the only two living citires in the game, while the rest feel like ghost towns in the game, with Rata Sum having only a bit action due to the SAB for a month, when it was there.

ANet needs to make the other towns simply in my perspective more attractive.
They are the main towns of the other races, come on, there should be some action in them that keeps people on wantign to go there and not only permanently hanging around in LA/DR and the last one mostly only, because most people like to play RP there, otherwise that town would be dead too …

Yeah I said I was being a bit harsh, and I apologise.

I would have liked to get dive master, but there’s jumping puzzles.

I have 3 area’s not completed, but there’s jumping puzzles.

I would have liked to complete these two thing’s.

I do have 100% map completion, but 3 areas are still only almost compete, and staring at me everytime I open the hero panel.

I know in don’t have to do them, but not doing them prevent me from completing other stuff.

I can definitely see jumping puzzles interfering with Dive Master since there are two or three dives at the end of the three separate jumping puzzles in the Mount Mealstrom jump. And those are not easy puzzles, especially the tree. You might want to see if you can get a friendly Mesmer to help with that. They could portal you past the hard parts.

I only know of one map completion point that requires you to actually participate in a jumping puzzle and that’s the wall puzzle in Diessa Plateau to get both a skill point and a vista. Other than that I know of no puzzles that actually need to be completed to clear the map, except maybe the spiral in Caledon, but it would also be possible to get someone else to complete the puzzle then open the door to the Nightmare Court area from the other side. Typically you just have to reach the beginning of the puzzle and that reveals the whole area of the puzzle itself.

Actually there are at least two more JPs you need to complete for Map Completion: one is the Tribulation Rift one at Dredgehaunt’s Cliffs, which you need to complete to get a Vista, and the other is Vizier’s Tower in Malchor’s Leap, you need it both for a Vista and a Skill point. Not only they’re not easy, they both have veterans which spawn at the end of the puzzle and you can get killed before getting both Vistas which is rather frustrating. And the Vista at Dostoiev’s Sky Peak may not be considered a JP itself, but it is as hard as some of them out there (seriously I think it deserves its own achievement!)

I don’t adore jumping puzzles either, though I’ve learnt to tolerate them, and I have ended finding the ones in cities challenging. I mean, as long as there are no mobs trying to kill me while I jump again and again and again and start again because I tend to fall a lot (look at my signature, I really mean it), I can eventually end up doing it (though some are really frustrating, if you fall near to the end and have to start again, like that kitten Troll’s End).

So, as long as they’re not mandatory to complete the map, I’m in for more jumping puzzles, specially if they’re harmless. They may even make the monthly achievement easier. But if they’re mandatory, then… sigh, please no more!!!!

Yeah, I was surprised there weren’t JPs in the other cities. I’m not great at them, but I still find it frustratingly fun to try.

Here just the map of DR
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/d/dc/Divinity%27s_Reach_Upper_Level_Map.jpg

1 JP could be placed for example in the Western Commons south at the lots of the houses. You start off at the Plaza of Melandru to get somehow onto the rooftop of those houses letting the JP end at the Plaza of Dwayna.

another in the Salma District in the Home Instance also again on the outer houses of the disctrict starting from the Plaza of Grenth basically into the direction of Plaza of Lyssa and the 3rd one could be maybe placed on top of the Royal Palace.
Therewold would have to be implemented only a way to get on top of there somehow so that you would be able to overview the complete town from there, what would make up surely for also a nice vista (perhaps) ^^

+1 to this!

I love JPs and am well known in my guild for being one of the better jumpers and always being up for doing them. (off topic, but SAB was AWESOME!!!) I think at least 1 per town would be good, though 3 per town might be a bit much (except for big towns like DR).
