More skills.. More fun
I totally agree with OP. In other RPG games, I’m looking forward to every lvl-up to come because of new skills / character improve. In GW2, all of the weapon skills are unlocked after killing like 10 npcs, which is not fun at all (and because of the zone level limits, the progress is even less noticable). In adition, the combat system should be “not number based,” as was promised, but when I look on the bunch of spells I have, I see just nubmers, no real difference. They simply seem all so similar to each other; either visually or in matter of actual effect.
I agree i already suggested every weapon should have 1 additional skill set you switch with ยง as default but apparently not many like this idea.
While I agree that I would love more options for skills, both weapon and utility, I don’t agree that the slot skills are “useless”. In fact, I like many of the available slot skills. I really just wish I could change my weapon skills.
There are plenty of threads on this though, so hopefully the next expansion or some really major update will allow this.
I agree with you too. Actualy I came back to the forum to write that i had realized that utility skills werent useless. We just need more weapon skills.

If you look closely the slot skills are different and usefull (I realised this a bit late). You can chose from variety of play styles thanks to slot skills and traits. The only misery is weapon skills :/.
It’s also that the few skills and weapons that we do have are too reliant on the trait tree which narrows down the viable skills available at one time.
The least amount of skills a profession without mechanics can have is 15 skills.
Warriors can have up to 17 skills.
Rangers can use 17 skills and a swap + stow. You can use more if you have a Boar family pet.
Necromancers can use 19 skills.
Mesmers can use 19 skills which includes blowing up illusions.
Thieves can use up to 16 skills but the steal skill gives you a random skill.
Elementalists gets 25 skills.
Engineer gets 22 skills at most.
Guardians can use up to 18 skills.
This is not counting Elite transformation.
In otherwords, use weapon swap more.
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant
More skills more (balance) problems.
i agree the skills i got are a few but i only use like 2 or 3 the whole time, boring as hell, more skills that are Dmg not some kinda net i dont need to use when i can just circle mobs to kill them, most the skills so far for me seem pointless.I WANT MOAR
i dont like wep swap its clunky
If you don’t like weaponswap, then you will not like more skills. It will be even more clunkier.
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant
I like weapon swap. It depends on which class you are running though as some Ranger don’t need to weaponswap as much as others Mesmer. For some all you need is a ranged option and then a combat option, but for others consistent weaponswapping provides you with better damage/stuns/conditions/whatever.
I do want to see more skills. I also believe there will be plenty more skills down the track as well as much more content. Please remember that while the game has been released it is still “technically” in beta phase. I’m sure that further down the track there will be a LOT more content and plenty more options for personalization of characters (traits and skills-wise).
Tyler Joe
they need to keep the limited skill bar.
what they could do is look at diablo 3, where each skill can be tweaked with a unikittenfect (not necessarily better or worse, just different), and apply that to weapon skills.
