At the time laurels were introduced, there were less things to exchange them for. Now they’re used in PvE and WvW. Isn’t it time to add some new ways to earn laurels?

Laurels should be imo rewards for doing successfully Group Events.
Every 10 Group Events should reward the player with 1 Laurel

Anet has to add imo also more rewards to the Laurel NPC.

Monthly achievement should reward the player with 30 instead of 10 Laurels + say 20 Extra laurels, if the player has maxed all monthly achievements at the end of the month. Monthly Reward Chest should appear only at the end of the month.
So basically 1 Laurel per each Day. Remove theirfor the Laurel reward of the Daily Achievement.

For that Reduction of the Daily reward, ANet should increase the Exp, karma and Money reward for doing the daily.

5 Silver for the daily is ridiculous and absolutely not rewarding at all.
50 Silver instead for doing the daily are rewarding!!, because then you actualyl get over the course of the month quite some money together to actualyl buy also something worthful in the game.

5 Silver *30 = 1,5 Gold, if you do really every day the daily. Absolutely unrewarding for doing over a month every day the dailies …
But 15 Gold is rewarding for doing somethign like this within a month.

Many peole complain also that Karma rewards for the dailies are too low.
by removing the Laurel there , Anet could increase the Karma Reward significantly too to make doing dailies every day worthwile again, compared on how easy you can farm karma through champ kill trains, WvW or doing activities… due to it being a one time reward per day, the reward should be significantly higher, than doing juts a chanmp kill, activity or somethign once in WvW …

But back to laurels…
Laurels should be rewarded also through doing dungeons.
By exchanging Dungeon Tokens into Laurels.
100 Dungeon Tokens = 1 Laurel

This includes also fractals, by beating the bonus fractal, in the reward chests should be also like 5 Laurels once per character each day to add a higher incentive to play fractals with multiple characters.

It’s not about easy or hard, it’s about time spent. They want people to take a long time to spec ascended. ANet wants you to play, and to tie laurels, and indirectly, ascended trinkets, to dailies/monthlies is fairly clever and makes it a huge incentive for people to do these things, which quite frankly was a dying habit when I was playing last winter. Very few people I knew bothered with dailies because they were tedious (Before they implemented choice, and very rarely rewarding. Laurels are the only reason I do them now. People want ascended, and to get them you have to do the dailies/monthlies…. Currently you can get ~40 laurels per month if you complete everything…so an uninfused ascended trinket per month…or you can play the fractals and, in theory, get ascended stuff there. When you think about it, this is substantially less work and much less time than it takes for legendary weapons. You also get laurels from achievement chests, but these are so few as to not be really be worth mentioning. I also know people who have had ascended stuff drop from WvW.

I’m not opposed to diversity, but laurels in particular, are one thing I’d like to remain unfarmable. There should be a limit on how many you can get in a given time frame, otherwise they will be farmed and abused. You get what you get and there is no way to increase that number. To many things in this game are prone to abuse by those who would exploit it.

I am against changing how laurels work. Between Laurels and guild commendations. I Basically have a full set of all the jewelry for just about every stat set. It is time gated ascended gear and I have no problem with that. I spent my time and earned it. It is not difficult, it simply takes a little time. With a game with no fees, I feel some time gating as limited as this is, is almost required.

I absolutely agree with Leamas.
Laurels are reward for playing daily. Not something you should farm to get quick and easy ascended.
(No matter how hard farming them would be, it would still equal quick and easy ascended.)

People who can argue often offer a good and meaningful conversation about the subject.
People who can’t tend to call the opponent troll, scream something utterly incomprehensible
and finally result to personal insults.

Well you did say that your idea is to gain them from group events, well almost every single champion in Queensdale is a group event, and we see how many hours people farm those for.

You would need a ratio of 1 Laurel for every 1000th group event, to not make it so A-net gives these things away.

I wasn’t thinking about farming laurels when I created the thread.
I just feel that with 40 laurels per month, some people who can’t play every day are left behind.

Also, if you have more than one character, how can you gear all of them?
If ArenaNet wanted people to play only one character, they should have said so at the beginning. With all this time gating, it really seems you’re not supposed to play several characters.

If you want to change builds and still get the maximum stats you are going to need another complete set of trinkets.

And thats just on 1 character. Having time gated stuff really hurts people wanting to play different builds and alts.

They could give laurels(1-5) for higher end titles or completing the living world meta.

Ive said alreadyx, that there should be a ration for Group Events, ok I know, 10 as an example surely might be too less, 25 or so would be better.

IÄm not suggestign that Anet should overwhelm us now with Laurels, my suggestions should lead only to a slight increase of the speed for gaining laurels, making laurels not only receiveable through dailies/monthlies only by reducing this time gated stuff to improve in the end the situatioin for everyone who wants to equip multiple characters with ascendent trinkets by collectign the required laurels to buy them.

Heck, if anet would increase the gaining speed for laurels and reduce the time gated problem through that, I’d even have no problems with it, if Anet raises the laurel prices for those trinkets from 30/40 laurels to like 50 laurel in general as a little counter weight for the increase of laurels that players can make after the changes/additions.

The laurels as is are fine for a person playing only one character and only one build. If you have multiple characters you like to play or multiple builds you like to switch between then it gets punishing.

I’m for having more ways to get laurels as I have 8 characters I’m trying to gear up completely. And no, I don’t want to stick to one only as that’s boring.

Think about trying to gear up 9 characters – not a fun situation waiting for me.

At the very least, when I buy an ascended weapon recipe, I should not have to re-buy the recipe for different stat combinations.

You should be able to buy “ascended sword” recipe and then craft; Dire, Rampager, Assassin etc… that would save on some much needed laurels.

Also, i would like the ability to change weapon stats on ascended – given A-nets propensity for nerfing any decent character build, it’s important that there are some options here given the amount of time and money spent on ascended weapons.

I currently have 2 ascended weapons rotting in my bank vault, because of changes impacting a specific build.

80 Necro (5), 80 Guard (4), 80 Mesmer (3)
80 Ranger (3), 80 Warrior (3), 80 Thief (3)
80 Ele (2), 80 Engi (3), 80 Rev (2)

Anet has knocked down gated pvp, it’s time they adopted it for wvw as well. I’m all for slow, no-farm pve progression, but if they’re pitting players vs other players then it’s kind of slanting the playing field… regardless of how ridiculous the pvp in wvw can get with zerg.

The trinkets themselves might be part of a solution. Rather than making the only avenues to getting them be from dailies, have them also be purchasable with other currencies from other vendors. Then, make agony resistant infusions come from fractal reward currencies, magic/gold/karma, perhaps glory/aesthetic/crafting come from laurels (glory would be on pvp gear you worked for, the main 6 not the trinkets – possibly an aesthetic back piece), and have infusions that boost offense/defense to wvw crap come from wvw.

While you can also get ascended trinkets from fractals, what I’m trying to say is they should extend their core design philosophy of “level the way you want to level” into something like “gear the way you want to gear.”

Incidentally, I also think the trinkets should have an offense/defense infusion slot, a fractals/pve progression slot, and a utility slot, rather than having to earn a trinket for each purpose… and have it let you change the infusions.

Also… to alleviate some of the issue of trying to gear new alts, allow each toon to do dailies for a laurel to go into the account wallet. Then people will be able to set up new toons without being discouraged by the daunting task of gearing them to bis. Hell, they’ll probably sell more character slots.

i am the kind of player that plays games according to the mood, if i don’t like playing/have no time playing a game i simply don’t.
gearing up one character is already a hell, getting all my characters to do the same is simply impossible.
it’s to slow to gain and way to focused on dedicated addicts (i really can’t say it any nicer) rather then the fun gamer.

I cannot play every day. I am lucky if I can play 14 days a months. I have 6 sets of ascended jewelry for my main. It appear to me, your making the incorrect assumption that dailies/monthlies are the only way to acquire gear. Ascended jewelry drops in fractals, can be purchased at a lesser laurel price with badges of honor in WvW, they can be purchased with guild commendations from guild missions. I have also had a few ascended rings drop in PvE and WvW. I just got an ascended berzerker ring off a random Garnished Toast kill bag in WvW the night before last.

The time gating of Laurels is very established cornerstone of ANet’s economic plan. Some people do not consider that there is ZERO chance Anet will ever make any additional money from a player if they are NOT in the game. They MUST establish valid reasons for players to log in EVERY day or they will not even have the chance to make any money.

Bottom line is that this current “log in every day”, carrot will not be move to another stick (certainly not one that isn’t time gated in some manner).

you can’t, the game isn’t alt friendly

the more they implement the more you realise the only use for alt’s is to grind out things for your main.

having said that, with all crafting professions intended to go to 500, I won’t be surprised if the laurel situation becomes redundant

Let us buy vendor mats (eg spools of thread) in 250 stacks, end the excessive clicking.

Laurals and Guild commendations are the only ones on that list that are time gated and account bound. Whereas everything else on the list is farmable.

Also you list is lacking a lot of options (ie Empyreal Fragments, from dungeon runs which drop a lot more than from jumping puzzzles).
