It’s funny. In Guild Wars 1 you only had 8-slot skill bar, now you have 2 more slots yet the bar seems alot smaller to me. And it’s all because it’s so restrictive.

I think you should implement more weapon skills. Make every single class like warrior in GW1, who had quite a few skills unique to every single weapon he could use.

I just got to lvl 46 with my guardian and I am already bored simply because there are not enough skills to choose from.

One more thing I’d like to adress are cooldowns. Combat in GW2 is supposed to be active. The only problem is skills have way too long cooldown. 20 seconds is alot if you ask me. You just unleash everything you have upon your enemy and then run around auto-attacking him till rest of the skills recharge. You could simply make some of the skills weaker and reduce their cooldowns imo.

Ehh, I really miss old good dual-class system. It’s a real shame it’s gone now. How I wish it could be reintroduced. It was so much fun adn gave you tons of possibilities. That was just awesome.

Nah if they did the weapon skills like they did with guildwars builds, where you have a small menagerie of skills and adjusts them as necessary that would be so much better.

but its just speculation on my side.

Combat is less interesting in PvE, especially when you are not in dungeons.

The “click everything” tactic won’t work in PvP either, it requires a bit more thinking.

Despite there being less skills, there are many different play styles with the same skills, which guild wars 1 did not have.

I’ve been using a hammer on guardian since level 10 or something, I’m not bored of it yet (200 hours), but there are a couple guardian weapon skills (taking in to account all the weapons) that could do with a change to make them more fun.

Agree with op, as I’ve said in my other posts and in a bug report suggestion.

They are limiting our capability of actually making a build, and giving us premade builds.

And I also agree with the fact that even though we have more skills, them being preset and not changeable, feels like a lot less.

I must’ve missed the sign that said it was a fire sale.

You can still make builds, it’s just not “build wars 2”

Traits + armor/weapon stats + utility/healing/elite + weapon combos = build

If we were only able to choose just one skill (like the elite) and armor, with locked traits you could call that a build.

However I woudn’t.

When people ask what build are you running, I just feel like saying, probably the same one as you, not much really here to customize.

Sorry the quote button isn’t working for me.

Well you forgot the utility skills! But irrelevant:

That’s exactly what A-net wanted, a game where builds/equipment matter less. What’s important is how you play. There are some points in the game (dungeons, sPvP, WvW, which I think are the only places which require skill) where you will need to work out how to play, exactly what you are going to do with the skills you have. In GW1, you had to first think of what skills you are going to bring, and that’s fine, except the combat itself becomes boring.

I thought the same when I first played GW2. But now I realise it’s much more fun, just because builds matter less doesn’t make it any less fun and it doesn’t lower the skill cap. You will still have to work things out.

And when people ask you what build you are running, leave the group and join someone else The only thing I have done if ask guardians if they have a focus in Ascalonian Catacombs, other than that they can use whatever skills they like.

well i dont think it can be changed now. but i strongly think gw1 skill bar was superior. force one self heal and one elite fine. be the rest should be chosen by me. i dont hate this system by any means. but gw 1 is a distant favorite. seeing a warrior with a greatsword and you know almost exactly what to expect.

Wintersday is for the Charr, also Meatober.

I’d rather be able to choose my sword attacks then be stuck with the ones I have.

For example, if I wield dual sword on mesmer, I would take out the second (offhand) swords illusion/phantasm for something that stuns or something. I’d also possibly take out the other defensive skill for more power if I was glass cannoning. Actually knowing me I probably wouldn’t even summon any illusions and not relaly spec for them in traits at all.

I don’t see why the second sword seems mostly defensive, they should have just given us a shield for that.

With more customability I could just spec it for more pure power or more defense, or more control, etc using my skills as a decision factor.

I must’ve missed the sign that said it was a fire sale.

I agree, the skill bar was superior. However the combat was terrible. And I think it’s hard to have both.
