For some reason many people seem to be against the idea of mounts while others are asking for them. I don’t see why having a few in game mounts would hurt the game at all.
Having a mount, even basic ones like Skyrim, adds a level of fun and immersive playability to the game.
I don’t understand why some people are so against the idea. Why not add a few mounts to the game?
For me it is one of the best parts of playing MMO games.
Well I quite agree with the concept, it’s basically one more thing to fiddle with, an extra source of income for Anet if variations of it is added to the gemstore and perhaps even an interesting new aspect for the game if there was say, dungeon themed mounts that can be acquired using dungeon tokens.
As for the function I cannot say if it would be useful or harmful on the long run if the mounts did anything more than look cool, for instance providing permanent speed buffs, as I can assume that this can be used to skim through map completions which is I believe not something the devs would want to see happen.
But overall I agree that mounts is something GW2 could definitely benefit from.

I don’t want mounts for one simple reason.It takes developer time which can be used somewhere else.There are a lot better and more important things to do/fix before mounts ever see the light.I want the time developers spend to be on something more usefull.
With how waypoints currently work i don’t need and I don’t want mounts.That is my personal opinion only.
When i’m in a map and i’m porting from one waypoint to the nearest waypoint it’s instant so why would i want mount?If mounts are added they must not be faster than your normal swiftness running speed.I don’t want mounted players to have an advantage from the running ones.
Also if they are ever added in the game i don’t want them usable nor in the cities nor in the dungeons.It will be too overcrowded.
This is coming from a person who had 143 mounts when i was still playing WoW at the end of Cataclysm.I was,I am and I will be a mount loverI just don’t see their use right now in the game.
What i may want is an improved logging screens when i port from other map and removing the need to enter through logging screen when i pass on foot from one map to other.Keep the overflow but hide the logging screen.Now that will improve my playing time.Even if mounts are added logging screens will still bother me if they stay like this.
Actually, of the mount threads, this one isn’t quite so annoying, so I will add my two coppers’ worth…
In general, with the waypoint system, we simply don’t need mounts for travel in-game.
Having said that, mounts would be a great way to add depth, but only in certain circumstances, such as maybe a mini-game (visualize a race or obstacle course) or as a quest requirement in a later expansion/content update.
Personally, I just don’t believe that mounts in the game are necessary for day-to-day travel.
also, I agree with pretty much everyone else in that all the “We Want Mounts” threads should be merged into one topic.
Mounts like the broom are fine, glorified town clothes basically. I actually like the idea of an Asuran hoverboard or Charr moped for messing about in Lions Arch on.
Not really liking the idea of them actually doing anything though.

Must admit, i am against mounts i GW2, however, they would be cool; especially hoverboards for asura

could we add mounts as more of a costume thing? Like you can see a player riding one but other than looks it does nothing, I cant think how anyone would be in opposition with that? I think It sounds like a fair middle ground

How about IF/WHEN you add in guild hall or housing, you make it a guild achievement and make it available only in guildhall or WvW
Just a thought…
