I can’t really understand why arenanet doesn’t want to add mounts. It would make the game more attracive and easy. I don’t ask for mounts inWvW, of course, but during exploring Tyria it would be really helpful.
I don’t want mounts for one simple reason.It takes developer time which can be used somewhere else.There are a lot better and more important things to do/fix before mounts ever see the light.I want the time developers spend to be on something more usefull.
With how waypoints currently work i don’t need and I don’t want mounts.That is my personal opinion only.
When i’m in a map and i’m porting from one waypoint to the nearest waypoint it’s instant so why would i want mount?If mounts are added they must not be faster than your normal swiftness running speed.I don’t want mounted players to have an advantage from the running ones.
Also if they are ever added in the game i don’t want them usable nor in the cities nor in the dungeons.It will be too overcrowded.
This is coming from a person who had 143 mounts when i was still playing WoW at the end of Cataclysm.I was,I am and I will be a mount loverI just don’t see their use right now in the game.
What i may want is an improved logging screens when i port from other map and removing the need to enter through logging screen when i pass on foot from one map to other.Keep the overflow but hide the logging screen.Now that will improve my playing time.Even if mounts are added logging screens will still bother me if they stay like this.
Someone created a new mounts thread just two hours before you. Learn to use the search function. You’re not so important that your ideas deserve a separate thread from everyone else.
On topic: I agree fully with moiraine. This game appears to have been designed around not having a need for mounts. I’m already used to the loading screens from GW1, but those zones were much larger than the average zone here (or so it feels). Something should be done, but I’d rather they focus on content and such. It’s not something that’ll make me quit.

I love that there are no mounts. The run speed is way faster than other games and you can use the retreat spell (or whatever it is called for your toon). I play a lot of rift and having to get on and off my mount drives me insane.
I think mounts are fine if they’re purely a cosmetic things that ArenaNet uses as a gold sink.
However I know what the community is like. As soon as you introduce mounts then people will be saying:
What about speed mounts, flying mounts that skip content, mounts that give buffs, mounts that do this and that blah blah blah.
I wonder if those exact same people realise they are dulling down the content they are trying to get excited about by skipping things and making things easier.

Is your burning hatred towards competitors so fierce that you’re completely against mounts? They’re fun, practical, and would make ANet tons of money as a cash-shop item.

They have answered this numerous times. This is the first one when they were developing the game on Guild Wars Wiki.
Will there be mounts?
No. For traveling long distance, the game will offer the two types of teleports above (waypoints and asura gates), but the initial release does not have any other methods, i.e. there are no mounts or ships.

Is your own personal filter broken? You saw the title but didn’t have to read it.
When I see a title about something I’ve either already seen or don’t care about it, I generally don’t read it.

Mounts would just clutter up screen real estate that’s already cluttered and, worse, help induce lag on people with lower-powered systems while their computer tries to render everything else plus everybody else’s My Little Pony.

It is posted constantly. No I didnt’ have to read it, it’s just there in front of me every time and takes away from other people’s posts. It’s unfair to other forum users to have to see this post pop up every hour when there are already hundreds of these posts made. You really going to argue that these posts need to be remade to get the point?

Why are you guys all so idiotic on this topic? Use your brains! Right now I discover a map and never look back because I hate paying fees to use waypoints. If they introduced mounts I would be more likely to return to areas since I don’t have to pay a fee every time I want to go there. Mounts are much needed and should have been here upon release.
There are already a number of topics debating the question of mounts. Please feel free to join them. There is no need to create multiple threads on the same issue.
