Suggestion: Allow a guild to pay influence to move upgrades built on their old home world to a new world.

How it works now: Influence currently accrues to the guild only on the world where the members participate in events. If the guild moves, then any upgrades are lost.

Intended audience:

  • Guilds that change worlds.

How it would change:

  • Guild accrues influence and builds improvements on World A.
  • Guild decides to move to World B.
  • After earning enough influence on World B, the guild pays an influence fee to move some/all of the improvements from A to B.
    • For example, if the guild might pay 500 influence to move the Guild Vault, which cost 2,500 influence to build (including upgrading the Architecture Level).
    • The guild would no longer have a vault on World A.

Other uses:
This might be helpful for guilds that have most of the members on one world, but a few stragglers elsewhere. They could decide to move their vault from the primary World C to the smaller chapter on World D and then rebuild the vault on World C.

Issues:

  • Amount to charge. Perhaps it should include coin.
  • Should the guild be required to move all upgrades? Or can they pick and choose?
  • How long would this take?

At present, the localization of guild improvements is the only thing that ties players to a particular server. I’m not sure how important that is, but it feels important to me.

At present, the localization of guild improvements is the only thing that ties players to a particular server. I’m not sure how important that is, but it feels important to me.

In my opinion, this would strengthen the ties between guild and member. Why do you think it’s more important to tie people to a server and less important to support guild portability?

While server-loyalty has some importance to WvW, there’s no special benefit for PvE-players. My guild started on a world that turned out to be unpopulated during our peak play times. We moved to one that suits us better, but all the improvements we made were lost and, for our purposes, wasted — there’s no chance we’ll be returning to the old world.
