Preface
I’ve only put about 90 hours in with one character (a Charr Guardian) so take that into account. Though, these issues emerged within the first hour of play (except for the elite skill). Also, this is a work in progress, I’ll be adding to this shortly.
1. Interacting With World Objects Draws Weapon
This happens 90% of the time. This was particularly aggravating when going for map completion and doing Renown Heart quests. Picking up a rock or stomping a dirt mound shouldn’t cause my character to draw his sword.
2. FEEL MY WRATH!
“Yes! Tome of Wrath is off cooldown, now I have twenty seconds to spam ‘conflagrate’!”
Feel my wrath. Feel my wrath. Feel my wrath. Feel my wrath. Feel my wrath. Feel my wrath. Feel my wrath. Feel my wrath. Feel my wrath. Feel my wrath.
I think hearing “feel my wrath” ten times within twenty seconds is a bit much. Perhaps the character should only say it the first time the spell is cast in a sequence, the other times should be a sound effect that is subtle enough that it won’t be annoying repeated over and over but still clear enough to hear and signal the cast. If you’re a Zerg player, this might remind you of the StarCraft II beta, and I believe, very early official release. Zerg players spam their drones so a unit is made as soon as enough funds are available, the times when they aren’t available you would hear “not enough minerals” after EVERY spammed command. That got very annoying, so they fixed it.
3. Purging Flames And Other AOE Perimeter Graphics
It appears to be puzzle pieces with hearts on the inside? Kind of Alice in Wonderland-esque. It seems appropriate, say, on some mesmer skills, but on most AOE skills? For Purging Flames, how about flames? The kind that look all “purgy”.
4. FOV, Mouse Smoothing/Easing, Acceleration Options
This is my real #1 gripe, but this horse has already been mercilessly beaten to death and then some. It’s still worth listing despite its pile-of-bloody-pulpedness.
5. Draw/Stow Weapon Options Expanded
Upon starting the game, I had to immediately bind “stow/draw weapon”. An option like “auto draw weapon upon being attacked” would be nice. I hate running away from a fight and just about to survive then suddenly drawing my weapon because I’m taking damage then dying because I was walking too slow.
