My opinion of cameras
The problem with 1. is that if you do it with walls, you’ll be able to see some edges of the interior of the walls as well as things you’re not supposed to see. The only part of walls that have any visible model is the parts you’re supposed to see. So if the camera goes outside of them, you’ll see any edges still facing the camera, as well as pieces of scenery outside the little cave area.
There’s no reason they could nota llow the camera to swing around rocks, trees, etc, however, as many, many, many, many, many games before have done.
The camera angles kitten kitten kittens with kittens! Yesterday, I was standing against pillar in the Golden Sun. My default view showed the roof of my mouth and the back of my teeth as if my head were invisible. Other than that, I could not see any of my body at all.

Robin. you more or less saw inside your head? lol haven’t seen that since guild wars 1, and had to work to attain that.
and yes I agree. first person mode would be the best way to fix this problem. why the devs thought first person mode is bad is beyond me. especially in jumping puzzles in cramped quarters or fighting in cramped quarters. or walking in cramped quarters or moving your camera view to see who you are trying to click on … in .. wait for it.. in cramped quarters. ..
i agree with the original poster .. fix this asap
I agree. Jumping puzzles are design with small characters in mind. I think the testing team of A-net has done the worst job in this. Haven’t they ever tried to test how the puzzles are played with huge characters?

Nope! No they did not.. This is just an assumption, but by the looks of it they did not.
Camera on GW2 is horrible. Sorry ANet, but GW1 camera never caused me any trouble nor difficulty.
Jumping Puzzles are really annoying on anything else the Asura. And this is one guy who loves JPs!! Any branch and my camera starts to earthquake. You’re in a cave with walls really close to you and it zooms in so much my character goes semi transparent but still lots of stuff in the way, it is impossible to figure out what am I looking at! Actually, a tiny piece of a tree I have just cut down is able to earthquake my camera.
Going inside houses is horrible too.
Plus, when I see someone in a cool looking armor I want to take a close look at it. I can’t because my own character is blocking my view!! For some situations first person view is really required.
I would love the close walls to go invisible when needed. Sometimes close objects do go invisible and it helps… except that it actually causes every other invisible-able object to become invisible too. This often causes me to be unable to look where I intend to. For example in the laboratory jump puzzle in caledon forest on the path from second to third station you need to jump at a rock and then out again, twice. At the first rock, often if you have your camera aiming from higher it will turn invisible not only the above rocks that would otherwise block my view. It also makes invisible the panels I need to jump at. When I first went into this puzzle I was used to always look at my character at a little high angle and this really got in the way for me.
Again with puzzles, leaves do not go invisible. In several places you cannot see anything at all because your screen is filled with leaves.
Another thing we need to be able to zoom out farther! If you are a tiny azura, this is fine. But with my huge charr with huge horn and huge head, and the maximum zoom out possible, my character still takes too much of the screen. Even worst if you are inside a golem suit inside the story line mission at mael-something volcano.
My final opinion is about huge areas. When you are near big mountains. If we can’t zoom out enough it gets hard to look at the scenery. This may sound stupid I know. But it is like being one tiny little being who is only able to look at a tiny portion of whatever it is. Feels bad. With huge bosses ANet did fix this (the camera automatically zooms out farther than what is allowed by default so you don’t fight it while looking at its feet only) but I feel farther camera is also required for huge sceneries not only huge bosses. I don’t know if I have been able to make anyone understand what am I trying to say in this last paragraph but I have already wrote too much! haha
PLease fix camera!
The camera angles for the jumping puzzles are so bad I made a game out of dying while doing them

I think an FPS mode would be epic! But i wouldn’t use it much unless the mouse locked into place and there where fps weapon models! (Like in elder scrolls games!) If that was a feature this game would fix + add so many things! It would be so amazing!
The problem is that arenaet were too lazy to care about the differance between having the cammera zoom into you when ur behind a solid wall, and being behind a 2ft high fence XP
