Black Lion Chests obviously drop more frequently than black lion keys. Black lion keys only reliably drop from map completion. I know ArenaNet probably doesn’t want to necessarily just increase the drop rate on them. They still want them to be rare so that people buy them in the gem shop. However I feel that, for players who don’t spend money like me, black lion chests are not a reward. I have 127 in my bank currently just sitting there.

So what’s a way to make it easier to get without increasing drop rates? Why the mystic forge. Perhaps the recipe could be something like 10 black lion chests, 20 philosopher stones, 10 obsidian shards, 2 mystic coins.

Part of the reason I think (only part mind you…) of people complaining about RNG from black lion chests is that they don’t get any keys for the items that they want from it (i.e. molten weapons).

The only way I could see something like this is if the recipe was expensive like

X Mystic Clovers + 1 Key + 10 Chests + ??? = 1-5 unlocked chests

They want you to buy the keys.
