NPC Micromanagement
Huh. I would have guessed this idea a little more popular. :/
As a player of the first Guild Wars, I both loved and hated my heroes. Having to find skills across the globe aside, heroes were great for being able to command to a certain degree, to keep them from doing stupid things, like run into a pack of monsters or lure more in by randomly attacking. Having said all that, this is not a wishlist for heroes in GW2.
I do feel however, a similar system of micromanagement should be enabled for the personal story. Since they say, they’re ‘leaving it up to you,’ or ‘following your lead’ enough, why not give players the ability to keep these NPC’s from doing stupid things like they’re prone to do. This could potentially cut down on a lot of frustrating situations where mission failure happens because your NPC got stuck, or decided to stand in an AoE attack, etc.
This could also be applied to dungeon NPC’s where the party leader would have command over them. It might also be feasible to have them show up in a mini-window on the UI to better monitor their condition and the like. This would also be great to have for Dynamic Events but I couldn’t honestly think of a good way to implement that.
Anyway, food for thought.
Huh. I would have guessed this idea a little more popular. :/
