Suggestion
when you choose a name for your character that name should not be locked only on your character but rather your account, so you can create more than one character with the same name AS LONG AS they are in the same account.
Reasoning
The ability to create more than one character with the same name makes it easy for people in the community to recognize you and for you to get to know more people specially in dungeons and fractals.
Past Experience
The game Final Fantasy XI had a way of creating a bond between the person and his character because you used to change your class rather than the whole character and you are stuck with the same character with the same name. that created a game that lasted for over a decade now due to its great community. Even after quitting the game you won some good friends there
Technical Issues
The name check in the game should check to all names in the game for identical names but ignores names in the same account as one account can never have two characters logged on at the same time. So in my opinion it should not cause such a big problem.
Additional Notes
Arenanet created such a great community here through the idea that the more players around you, the more you are rewarded. Be it through tougher events or ressing each other or even the account-based friend/ignore list.
I think the addition of names being locked to the account rather than the character can help in encouraging people to be one with their characters.
Keep in mind the suggestion does not forbid multiple names in the single account, but rather makes it another option to create an alt with the same name as your main.
