Hello.

I’ve been playing Guild Wars since the release of Nightfall and one of the aspects of the game I’ve loved ever since are the (often funny, punny) names of the various bosses. When I came to Guild Wars 2, one of the very few things that disappointed me (a little, game be awesome bro) was finding most boss-type enemies in the open world simply named Champion x, etc. In dungeons this was much less the case, but I reckon seeing a champion in the dungeons simply named Champion x every now and then.

I don’t know if this is a temporary thing, in which case I would fully understand, or that there are no plans at all of giving those Champion and Legendary-type enemies a unique name.

Prior to the release of Eye of the North, I remember a Name-a-Boss contest being held to name the bosses by the community. Maybe this would be a fitting idea to name the bosses in the current open world? I find it much more realistic and fun to save a village from a big foe named [Bad Guy McAwesome] than from a fella named “Champion Jotun”.

I don’t know how the rest of the community thinks of it, input is always welcome.

Keep up the great work!

I like this idea! I think it would add some fun and variety to the everyday romp through dungeons or treks across the open world in a non-intrusive manner. There’s no real loss in changing their names due to the portrait symbols (and theoretically they could still be Legendary Bob the Building Breaker or what have you).

I think one of the most exciting thing about games like GW and EQ was the immersion of seeing an NPC named something more interesting than ‘Champion Zombie’ or whatever. I know it seems minor, but it really adds a sense of awe when you think about why that mob has their title like “Rothusk The Lifeclaimer”, etc.
