Introduction
Hi there fellow players.
I’m relatively new to the game and a lover of rpg’s games. First time i played mmo was World of Warcraft Vanilla and i loved the diferrent mechanics (compared to other single players rpg’s) it had back in the time. Since then i’ve been playing Guild Wars 1, Mu, Eve Online and a lot of mmos that had an envolving mechanic/gameplay. I belive what defines a good mmo is the mechanics, gameplay and immersion. Actually everyone knows that what keeps you playing a game is because you are having fun within it, most of the time provided by these. And when i’m talking about mechanics, professions (lets call it classes for better understanding) are involved aside of a lot of other factors.
It is true that to create a class you don’t need only to think of one and boom, there you are, a new class. We need a whole concept: “Who are they?”, “From where they came from?”, “What does that class do?”, “How is their personality?”. Those are a lot of things to think about. But a good concept comes from simple ideas.
Anyways i will get straight to the point. Guild Wars 2 is the best mmorpg today imo, pioneer mechanics, pioneer combat style, gourgeous graphics, a good lore (thing that will be improved over the time since its a new rpg story aside of what came from Guild Wars 1).
Naval WvW
A lot of improvement is coming, so i was thinking of adding some kind of naval WvW, something like Black Lion Trade Routes on the sea that can be conquered by a server to give a boosts for the server that conquer it on normal maps of WvW and on the server. More like an event that happens once a day right after the daily reset. Duration of 3 hours tops. A guild could have a possibility of crafting 4 types of ships each one carrying a specific number of players on it. Frigates: 12 players, Cruisers: 16 players, Battleships: 22 players, Repair Ship: 8 players. Each one with a role on the ship and a rank that can be modified by the capitain of the ship while the battle is not happening. Total of 6 ranks: Admiral (can command a battleship), Capitain (can navigate the rest of the ships), Gunmaster (can command a large cannon), Gunman (can control a medium cannon), Deckhand (Control small cannons and jump on the ship when it is closed enough to invade enimies ships), Lookout (ppl watching threats) . In the case of the crew is not complete because a player had to leave etc. You could be able to contract up to 6 npc to take control of the cannons in their places. It need a lot of organization from the players but there is the thing. Be able to control a large cannon you need that specific rank. I know thats a lot to take in, but i think this could be an expansion to create this mechanics in the engine. I dont know if it is even possible but thats a crude idea and if it goes foward its going to be awesome.
Wolrd events could be npc controlling the ships and something like escort events, monsters coming from the deep ocean pushing ppl on it. This part is more easy to think.
New class
New class would be nice too. Some kind of Pirate. He would be able to use Rifles, Pistols and swords. It would be more like a thief/eng mixed. If anyone already played DotA could think on Kunkka, from there we can take a nice place to start think in something, i haven’t tought of that yet i will take more time to do it. I was excited with the naval mission idea and had to post before continue to develop the new class idea.
What do you guys think? It’s a lot to take in and a nice and healthy discussion could bring attention to anet.
Note: Its a huge change to the game and its just a suggestion, read everything and think before repplying. Lets keep it professsionally. Took me a long time to think on the WvW thing.
