I just walk straight through them lol, I have good condition removal so it doesn’t bother me. It is annoying when I’m not playing my ele though, even the .5 second delay would be fine.
This seems plenty reasonable to me. I don’t see how this would adversely effect my Necro in PvE.

As a die-hard Necro, I’d be livid if they gave us a .5-1 second delay before marks became active. Yeah, marks have a lot going for them. BUT, we quite literally have to go 10 points into Death Magic for the Greater Marks trait (the trait that makes them so big), because its so much more difficult to hit with the little radius of the initial skill.
Also, you can dodge through marks (which is ridiculous). It’s Unblockable, sure. But if you’re in the dodge roll animation when you hit the mark, the damage and conditions are nullified.

I realize this, the problem though is most Necros do not place them ahead of time. They are placed directly beneath you where they trigger instantly and are unblockable.
That’s why I say there is no counter play. A short activation time would allow you to dodge out if your reaction time is good and you’ve saved your energy for the marks…which I would since the marks stack super long duration conditions that you MUST cleanse or die.
I can’t think of any other skills in the game that you cannot counter play by any means other than luck. And yes, just happening to be dodging when its placed under you would be defined as luck – not skill.
Edit – To clarify, I’m only wanting to see this implemented for PVP.

Part counterplay for mark imo are long cds, save mob, and poor dmg. Even so, they can be dodged by watching the cast animation. I would argue marks are good counter play to glass and minion/clones.
Marks are fine as they are. They can be dodged into, completely nullifying the mark. You also have to trait to get them to be greater and unblockable.
80 Necro, 80 Ranger, 80 Warrior, 80 Mesmer, 80 Engineer.
